What do people think of the Eldar HQ choices now. I'm new to Eldar and initially liked the idea of a Farseer and a Autarch, but thinking about it, two Farseers is probabily more potent. Any Thoughts?
For shootier armies I say go with the avatar.
For mechanised armies either autarch or phoenix lord.
For any other kind of army farseers are best. Actually farseers are probably still our best HQ option for any kind of army. A pair works quite well, at least it did for me until I found out they can't guide the falcon they're riding in.

If anyone wants any kind of help writing fluff for any kind of GW army just ask.
So.. the Autarch isn't the Chaos HQ equivelant then? I love the model for it. It's a shame.. but farseers are tried and tested.

Farseer is probably the best right now. He's the most versatile and aids the army as a whole become a lethal force.
The Autarch is more of a support role with his special rules.
The Avatar is good at alot, but is a huge target, I don't expect him to live past turn 4.
Kai Shin Craftworld (Biel Tan / Ulthwe) 5000 pts
Emperor's Children 2000 pts
I used to play Ulthwe and really enjoyed using a lot of farseers, and they've only gotten better. On the other hand I can't resist the lure of the bloody handed avatar with it's improvements. Great stats are now reinforced with a great save and a powerfull ranged weapon, making it my favourite HQ for the eldar.
I've played with the avatar alot and hes always been awesome. Last game he killed 3 vehicles! Plus he holds the line together like glue. Have yet to play with an autarch, but will try him out soon. Farseer is a lot of points if you want to give him a pile of powers. And is all the guys he saves or all the misses he turns into hits worth the cost of him and his powers? Sometimes, but often I've found the answer is no. (he pays off when he guides 3 warwalkers with scatter lasers :shifty
For smaller games, I definitely think that Farseers are the best. A basic Farseer with Doom/Fortune etc could make a fairly large difference.
But as greymonk brought up, how much difference DO they actually make?
And what do you think is the minimum points game for an avatar to be worthwhile? 1500pts?

I have to dissagree here, I think a farsser can do much better than these lot. In a mech army a farseer on a jetbike works wonders as he can fit many roles, tank hunting to HQ hunting. I really don't think autarchs have a place, but I can see pheonix lords maybe being usefull. Not sure about avatar, I tend just to overlook him cos he doesn't suit my style of play.
Farseers and Autarchs are equally as good IMO. A Farseer is good when it comes to supporting the rest of the army with psychic powers but an Autarch adds a punch to the army. While he isn't on level with a Chaos Lord his ability to form a decent retinue with pretty much any aspect makes him a viable choice for the units equivilant to Command HQs of the Space Marines or Dark Eldar Lord and his Incubi. Some may question the power of such a combination in comparison to the squads mentioned, but not many players would like to challenge a close combat unit with another unless they have the blatant advantage...this should always be kept in mind when using an Autarch.
So Farseers gives you the sheild while Autarchs gives you the sword is another way to put it.
Oh yeh, i read something about Farseers making good anti-tank earlier, while this is true Autarchs and a squad of shining spears can do just as well since their weapons count as lance...maybe not as effective but it's a thought for the bag.
