this is mainly a question on what should i get next for my army.so far i have the old battle force with the 3 jetbikes,1 vyper etc,the new eldar army deal(i still have to make a few of the dire avengers and guardians),a farseer and a warlock.i recently bought another jetbike and a support platform but i have not made the platform yet.
I have asked for 3 warwalkers,an avatar and another warlock for christmas.so far i have had 2 battles with the new codex against imperial guard and lost miserably (apart from the banshees killing a unit each time). My imperial guard opponant mainly uses infantry.
What would you advise me to get next?I was thinking along the lines of a fire prism and also swooping hawks because he has a few leman russes now for his army and uses a chimera every battle, and i have read how effective swooping hawks are against tanks.
Also what weapon would be best for my support platform?
For anti-tank, take 6 Fire Dragons in a Falcon. Zoom up, jump out, irradicate it then hop back in and off to the next tank!
For men, Scatter Lasers are your friend. Give your soon-to-be War Walkers with either 2 Scatter Lasers each or give each one a Scatter Laser/Eldar Missile Launcher combo.
Also, give the Falcon mentioned above a Scatter Laser.
I might even say give the Platform a Scatter Laser. Yes, they are that good!
Finally, Swooping Hawks. They are fairly god at anti-tank, but they're mainly good agains GEQs (like Guardsmen. ). With their perfect anti-Guardsmen guns, with their Skyleap ability mixed with the Grenade Packs, they reak havoc to Guardsmen, especially if they are in Close Order Drill. Large Pie Plate + Guardsmen = Dead Mon Keigh.
Obviously, this is mainly for playing against Imperial Guard. The Fire Dragons are god against all armies, and the Scatter Lasers are good against most (except low numbered, high elite armies). However, Swooping Hawks aren't great against too much; they excel against Guardsmen, although can be good against most things.
Hope this helps. :w00t:
Be sure to field those jetbikes with a shuri cannon. Those rip up guardsmen better than scatter lasers generally as you punch through their armor.
Also dire avengers are great against guard.
the vyper isn't so great, but by taking the gunner off it makes a much nicer looking jetbike upgrade for a farseer (they just look silly on an actual jetbike).
And yes the fire dragons are very nice, hawks are good enough against guard, but dragons in falcon are really death to vehicles.
Make sure your falcons have all the upgrades in this case except possibly vectored engines. You'll want to start the game with 36" moves.
Also give the falcons the shuri cannon upgrade it helps against infantry and chimeras if the falcon ever gets to shoot.
dragons in a falcon are a very very expensive death to one vehicle, much rather take your walker and give it two bright lances, or buy a serpent for your avengers and give it TL bright lances,
Hawks will cause huge casualties in guard infantry
Banshees are not the best choice against guard
Vypers will work ok if they are used as anti infantry, give it 2x shuriken cannon, but even then it will be lucky to get its points back, however with that weapons fit it can also intimidate rear armour
Everything you have been told is a lie!
For CC troops take scorpions, with an exarch with chainsabres, with all the rerolls you can inflict some real carnage. and Hwaks do the same but then differently
I would suggest some transport vessels since all those battle cannons and heavy bolters are not so healty for our troops.
About the Vyper, Cheredanine has said it. It would work wonders if combined with guide or doom. But the trick is to get you're farseer close to the vypers. But that is were jetbikes come in handy.
Hope it helps
"Ask not the Eldar a question, for they will give you three answers; all of which are true and terrifying to know"
oh yea is a fire prism any good vs imperial guard??cause i just won one and a shrieker jetbike with it on ebay:w00t:
Fire Prism is really good against the guard if you keep it moving, (watch the first turn), and have other heavy toughness/armour to target. Plus your going to want to have it upgraded with all the toyz.
By the way be sure to either magnetize or use weak glue on the fire prism. This is because a FP comes with all the pieces for a falcon so you can switch back and forth between the two. (similarly with a bits order you can make one of your falcons into a second fire prism).
By the way I don't know what happens to the other guys but my fire dragons actually have a pretty solid survival rate after blowing up a vehicle. Especially around the guard, but they do well in general. They key is to give them some protection with the falcon and the wreck of the vehilce they're blowing up. This protects them from assault, protects the from shooting from one side and at least requires a target priority test to shoot at them from the other.
I'd strongly advise taking star engines (and of course holo and stones and maybe vectored) on the falcon carrying them. It'll let them be in a much better position on turn 2.
Is this correct?
And they are a fragile unit. They can make back that points, but I would only say the do ~50% of the time.
