If i'm not mistaken, archons can be put on reaver jetbikes right? If so, is it better if i put him on the jetbike, or leave him the way he is? Which is more competitive and why?
Yes, Archons can be given reaver jetbikes. However, it matters how you would use the Archon and what theme your army is, and especially what you're facing. For example, a bike lord with hell mask an agoniser, combat drugs and a t. helm would be pretty good against foes such as nids, and orks. Maybe even good against MEQ's aswell, but I wouldn't have him travel alone, and I wouldn't give him a huge amount of wargear either. Instead, you can get two cheap reaver dracons with agonisers and they can do pretty well in the battlefield aslong as they are travelling with other bike squads.
However, I usually don't use bikes because I see them as too expensive, and I love my warriors.
I give my Lord a bike depending on what else I give him...
The bike is fairly expensive.... And I can pretty much make up for it's movement just by giving my lord Drugs, which will help him more offensively.... So, either route you go you're going ot have a fairly fast lord...... The only downfall being, on foot you could be too fast (if there is a thing)
I wouldn't suggest single charging your lord into enemy squads (though he still works doing that)...... But at least with a bike "retinue" you're at least guaranteed they'll keep up with him....
Competitively I'd say go with a lord on foot.... The reason i say this is... you can make him more offensive for less points... you really just don't the +1 toughness...
I suppose it depends on what you like style wise. I used to be very big on using jetbike lords and I still use them every once in a while. The strength and toughness bonus helps alot but you sacrifice some range (no fleet of foot and no 12" charge) that to me is more important than the bonuses. Seems kinda wierd but a Lord on foot has a longer assault range than one on a bike.
I like my Lords detached and on foot, he has the most range when starting on a raider and then separates when they deploy for 2" more, then can fleet of foot D6 and then take a 12" charge drug (my favorite!) thats a 27" assault range. If there is a wych squad with the 12" charge you can put him into that squad starting on the board (12" from the edge) and now you have a good chance at a 1st turn charge (this might be good but there are times when a 1st turn charge isnt good) and can hit any unit on the board if setup properly.
One thing for sure is that a Reaver Lord is very cool fluff and model wise.
Look at the wargear option of a jetbike as a "delivery system" for what ever you arm him with. Figure out is it worth the extra points to utilised those attacks in the most flexible delivery system possible - a jetbike.
Mind you if you go this route, its going to cost you in points - at least 160pts for the beastie and more for its covering squad.
But on the up side it really does look the business and if theming is your game, then an all bike army can be interesting to play with.
