Welcome to Librarium Online!
We just took delivery of a small 2nd-hand 40k ork army.
We have 2 issues really and I need some assistance from the WAAAGH community.
Apart from some broken figures - easy fixable, we have one very cool dreadnought with no "hands" Any ideas where I can get spares.
I suspect both were close combat, right a chainsaw-d and the other claw ???!! maybe.
The biggest mystery which will be easy for you fellow greenskins, is we have a group of about 10 figures, most are metal with no ranged weapons - axes(scimitar shape), and a cleaver. no guns or anything. Some of them have a horn like a rhino, round slotted bases and under is "GW 2003". The one figure I'm looking at has a combo of chainmail and plate armour over one shoulder. He's wearing a belt with a skull buckle.
So there not old and the round base leads us to believe they're 40k not fantasy orks.
For the dreadnaught arms, you could either scratch build them or check the GW Online Store and order the bits. As for the odd Orks, it sounds to me like they may be Fantasy Orks that were stuck on the round 40k Base.
They sound like Black Orcs to me
“Krump first, assk qweztions neva'!"- 3000 Orks
Dark Eldar- 1500 1/0/0
"the very gods for vengeance cry”- 3000 Dwarves
Could you post a picture?
If you drop a shell on your foot an it don't urt, your shoota aint big enough!
To my knowledge old metal Ork models only ever came in two favours. The first type were metal bodies with a plastic weapons and arm sprue (but those boyz are really old - back in the good old days when the Clanz ruled da wurld).
The second type were solid metal and I can't think of a single boy that didn't have a gun of some sort (and those boyz date back to the dayz of Rogue Trader).
When the Orks were reborn in 3rd Ed the models all became plastic with metal bits (the exception being the new Commandos, Nobz and character models).
I agree with HavenDan, it sounds like you have some Fantasy Models.
I smell conversion potential !
Check the site: Battlewagon-bitz.com. Decent, inexpensive arms, legs, heads, etc.
SM Player to the SM Player facing my Orks: "Who, in their right mind, moves towards Orks, Hunh?"
a heavy plasma gun, I never could remember what that was, I am using 2 of them as "repaired" intakes on an eldar jetbike one of my nobs will be restoring to service
