Welcome to Librarium Online!
Just noticed these guys in the online store's collector's range:
Wondering if they'd be suitable to use as alternative wraithguard models or not, the only problem I can see being the lack of a bloody big gun on the models (although they do appear to have some sort of shoulder-mounted gun).
So, does anyone know anything about the original rules for these figures (specifically details of what that little gun was like), or think they'd make a convincible alternative wraithguard unit? I'm not sure whether to sink the cash into a unit of 5 or not... /:
I'm not sure since I never played it, but I think that those are Wraithlords from Epic.

just go out and buy the right models. its people like you who give hardcore players like me a bad name. cheapskates!!
As long as its a GW model in the first place and the base is right really there are no restrictions against using them. Theres no reason to think that wraithbone cannot be formed into other shapes to house the once living warriors. Just make sure they don't look too goofy and are proportionaly sized right for army feel.

If someone helps you, or you just like what they say, rep them
Wraithguards are awesome, but there are many other units that will perform the same task that these guys can do, or even better at cheaper point cost (money-wise too). They are only good because they have the weapon which can be used for multi-tasks and still be backed up with the monstrous stats-line that they have. In my opinion, they should be on your 'last-to-buy' list, until you have a working army plus many other models to subsitute for different army list, then consider start collecting them (The model look great!) I'm not a fan at 'place-holding' a beautiful model.. I would rather not use them at all if I dont have them, than actually get a bunch of unrelated models that dont even look half as good to represent.

Anima Tactics - try it out!
If gw didn't make their prices so outrageously high then people wouldn't be substituting models for other models. I even know a few people that have sculpted their own models or made a mold and poured their own for certain things because the prices were so rediculous. I don't get how the demand for their game goes down but their prices go up. seems counter-intuitive. neone know why this is?
I say use em, They look like little wraitlords, and thats basically what a wraithguard is.
edit: I believe the executioner class has a flamer on it, don't know about the assassins here's a link to a forum post i found about them on relic forums

I think they look a wee bit dorky, but the major problem is that those are so SMALL. They're shorter than a guardian, even! Still, put 'em on the appropriately-sized base and it's only your army asthetics that'd suffer.
Hmm, what's another thing those could 'count as'...since they're little stealthy CC monsters, I'd be inclined to field them as Scorpions. You'd need a big unit to make that effective though.
*ahem* Hardcore player? Who are you, Mr. T of the toy soldier world? I've been playing for 9 years, have many armies in many of GW's systems, have a nice collection of painting trophies from various wargames conventions, and enjoy the hobby just as much as anyone else.
I don't need some patronising git like you telling me how to play the game just because I'm a university student and need to save a bit of cash, thankyou. If you have to go all fanboi and think that only the current range of GW models should be used to play their games, that's fine, I know plenty of people that have that opinion... there's no need to be a jackass about it to others, though
Just to give some figures, here's the options I'm looking at:
1) Unit of 5 Wraithguard: £40
2) Unit of 5 Ghost warriors: £15
Both options are similar, it's just that 2) also saves 25 quid for a new pair of jeans, or a couple of long nights at the student bar (or... a week's food)!Yeah, the scale is a bit of a concern... but my unit of arco-flagellents are some really tiny models, and they look just fine, so I'm thinking they should be alright. I hope /:Just make sure they don't look too goofy and are proportionaly sized right for army feel.I've got the usual Fire Dragons + Falcon combo, just wanted to experiment with wraithguard in a serpent instead. I figure they'll be just as good at tank hunting, but more importantly, might actually survive half the enemy army attacking them after they've shot up the tank. And if they get assaulted afterwards, they should be a decent "tarpit" unit to hold up a unit until I can get some assault troops in there.Wraithguards are awesome, but there are many other units that will perform the same task that these guys can do, or even better at cheaper point cost (money-wise too)Me neither. I guess it's a good job that I don't consider the current wraithguard models to be particularly beautifulI'm not a fan at 'place-holding' a beautiful model..Cheers! *reps*edit: I believe the executioner class has a flamer on it, don't know about the assassins here's a link to a forum post i found about them on relic forums
I think the executioner looks a little better with the chunky gun, but I'd like to use both variants so the unit isn't all the same figure... a little conversion work should do the trick, and I'm thinking the small death spinner barrels from the 4 spare warp spider exarchs I somehow ended up with might look alright.Aww, what? I think they look cute. (but that might just be the price tag wooing me)I think they look a wee bit dorkyHeh, nice idea! They've even got some little mandiblasters on the helmet...I'd be inclined to field them as Scorpions.Yeah, I'd have to agree there... I think I'll just buy one of these when I order a few of the mail-order only ranger and see how it looks before buying the rest of the squadIn my opinion, they should be on your 'last-to-buy' list
Thanks, all ^_^
