its your choice kyle.....tits or destiny
KISLEV is NOT part of the empire
I'm going to get out my calculator and get some mathammer going, so please bear with me...
Executioner - 2 attacks will yield about .9 MEQ's killed
Mirrorblades - 4 attacks will yield about .9 MEQ's killed
So they're equal in the MEQ-killing role (which is probably what Banshees will be used for). Here's an interesting fact, though: on the charge the executioner has a better kill probability because you only get +1 attack, and the executioner has a better per-attack wound ratio.
Overall, from an effectiveness standpoint, the two weapon are about equal. If you're facing higher toughness enemies, then the executioner is the obvious choice, and if you're going to fight some T3 foes, then the mirrorblades are best. However, against MEQ's their about the same.
i agree with craftman, with one addition. Statistically the mirror blades and executioner have the same probability to kill meqs in combat, but the executioner allows you to keep the shuriken pistol. Thats why it got my vote.
Executioner wins straight out with its enhanced MEQ-killing possibility on the charge... plus S5 gives it a chance to wound higher toughness models and if you are rellay desperate even punch through rear-armor in most vehicles (you never know!).
P.S. @craftman2: your math-hammer isn't correct: it's 0.66, not 0.9!
- Just love that maki! -
It's a .66 (2/3) chance to wound with the executioner given the fact that you hit.P.S. @craftman2: your math-hammer isn't correct: it's 0.66, not 0.9!
My calculations were (2 attacks) x (2/3 chance to hit) x (2/3 chance to wound). So, (2)(2/3)(2/3)=.88, repeating of course .
All crazy probability math aside, the important fact to take away is that against T4 3+ save opponents, 2 mirrorblade attacks equals 1 executioner attack. Additionally, as was mentioned above, you get to keep the pistol if you take the executioner.
I actually find the triskel to be fairly good. It has the same killing power vs MEQS as an executioner (both stats done on the charge and including shooting) but it costs half the points. Not only that but on the charge and after shooting the triskel could also outdo the mirrorblades.
[Also there is nothing more fun than blowing away a terminator before you charge the rest of the squad.]

I'd vote for the triskele, but I'm ALWAYS struggling to reach the enemy... non only shooting denies me Fleeting, but killing the nearest models doesn't really help.
Executioner is a sensible choice, usually only against Mechs.
With mirrorblades the new model is way cooler. If I've got a Doomseer nearby, it's pretty efficient... and I like to rely on a tiny bit of luck. I vote for this.
edit : I was reading two nearly identical posts, and I replied to the wrong one ._.
