I am curious if you can link THREE Fire Prisms together to get a S7 AP2 Large Blast? The rules state to add plus one to the AP and ST for each Prism, so if you have three it would be S7 AP2 and a large blast for the dispersed shot and still ST10 AP1 for the focused since you can't get any higher.
Yes you can. Why though?
why not use the 3 higher strength small blasts? twin-linked isn't that great. Or you can use a combined blast and then the 3rd prism to shoot seperately.

If anyone wants any kind of help writing fluff for any kind of GW army just ask.
Most of the times I'd shoot separate templates, but if you channel both Prisms to a single Guided 5" template at S6 AP3... MEQs will cry.
Compare 2 hits with the 3" S9 and a single Guided 5" S6
You need to hit with both 3" templates to cause massive damage, while with the 5" you have 1 single twin-linked hit.
After the first 3" S9 AP2 template your opponent may remove his MEQs in order to allow fewer hits to the second 3" template.
You need to have LOS with both Prisms to shoot 2 S9 3" template.
I'd never combine 3 of them (especially cause 3 Prisms is too much imho), but combining 2 can be really effective especially if you have a Farseer with Guide. Obviously you can take great advantage from shooting a couple of 3" templates aiming at different units, but to nuke a single target with 3+ armor save and 6 or more models, a single twin-linked 5" S6 AP 3 is much more effective.
Without a Farseer, NEVER combine Prisms >_>
Except you can't re-roll a re-roll. So their auto twin-linking is it. BS4 and twin-linking is still pretty good odds for devestation.... your opponent will certainly think so, and it will influence his play.
Personally, I'd rather see. some variation in the Heavy Support options. Our Heavy Support options are the Garden of Dangerous Toys.... and we have so many varieties of long-ranged mayhem to throw.
do'h,I forgot they become twin-linked, my fault >___<
Ask yourself, why would you spend the best part of 500pts on one massive AP2 blast? You probably don't, unless your opponent has a unit of equal nastiness.
Having an army and not owning a rulebook is like owning a car with no steering wheel.Originally Posted by amishcellphone
Sorry, but what's an "MEQ"?

Combining 2 for the AP3 large blast is tempting for use against MEQ's, but 3 is too excessive.Termiantors? Obliterators? Havoks? Pariahs?
