Not that I don't have ENOUGH armies to work on, but I was curious about Orks, and say, building a kill team for now, to later be integrated into a fuller Ork army. Anyone ever done this, or used elements from a full, existing army to make a kill team? What would you guys suggest I buy to make a kill team, knowing that I plan to make a full army out of at some point?
If your considering an ork kill team you should mainly look to get the ork boy box set. This set will allow you to make a customizable kill team as well as make a good mix of shoota/slugga boys that you'll need. You can also pick up a Nob to use for the squad-make sure you get the one with the power klaw.
Pending what other armies you have already you may have a nice bitz box to work with. I always recommend adding a marine shoulder pad or 2 to every squad. You can always add 2 to a ork slugga boy to make a Ard boy with a better save. Also making ork rokkits is easy. Just file down one of the shootas and remove the ammo click. Then trim down a rokkit a bit and fit it to the front of the shoota. Big shootas are just as easy as trim down 2 of the circular shootas and then cut the front off one and plastic glue it to the other. The box comes with extra ammo chains that you can add on.
Burnas can be bought easily as its $8 for 2.
Lastly if you want to make tank bustas tank a bunch of marine grenades and fit them together, then remove a choppa blade and attach the bundle of krak grenades to the stick end. Now you have a model to represent frag/krak stikk bombs.
Hope this helped! Orks rock and are a great army to start with as a kill team.
40K-Beakies(9-14-4),Guard(4-7-2),Orks(34-12-11). FANTASY-Dwarves(15-6-7),Beasts (14-14-1), Skaven (17-17-10) DoC (6-1-2). CYGNAR (28-15-1)
Interesting. Thanks for the tips. I know I gotta buy the codex at some point to know exactly what I wanna put in the crew, but this is a good start. Now I know what to buy in between stuff for all three of the full-sized armies I'm currently working on, and, oh yeah, I'm thinking of a Tau kill team too.
Keep in mind that if you use any squad leaders or any kind of heavy weapon except burnaz you will be breaking rules
not to be wiered or anything but whats a kill-team?
A simple, quick scenario. max 100 pt armies, no vehicles, 1 squad max, 1 wound max, and some more rules. Also has interesting, different objectives, etc.
