    Hq Question

another newbie question from me.. about creating your own craftworld:
I've been looking at the hq choices for my eldar army, and I see the names as Prince Yriel or Eldrad Ulthran
    Were it says
You may include Eldrad Ulthran in your Eldar army as a HQ choice.
You may include Prince Yriel of Iyanden in your Eldar army as a HQ choice.

Does this mean that I can't use these HQs on my own craftworld?

    thanks,
    - HERO

Letter of the law, yes, but many would be upset with you for breaking the spirit.
You can, but you might get lynched for being a bad sport.
I wouldnt do it if I were you.

As per Gallowglacht, to the letter of the law, yes.

Eldrad was the leader of Ulthwe craftworld in all but title, therefore he would be expected to be leading ulthwe forces, although arguable he was held in such esteem he could be in charge of any craftworlds forces, but even then Ulthwe forces would be present
The use of Eldrad is also a little marred by the fact that he is either turned to crystal or compeltey dead, which kind of impares your ability to swing a singing spear

Yriel used to command Iyandens fleets, then he was kicked out and ran a pirate group (Yriels Eldrich raiders) and arguable now does both, so whilst he would normally be expected to be leading forces from Iyanden, he could concievable be leading pirate forces, but is unlikely to be leading forces from any other craftworld

The usuall approach round this with special characters is:

HQ: Prince leryal (uses Yriels rules)

although this is flawed IMHO as both Yriel and Eldrad are so profoundly powerful within the race that there are no equals that would not be known
Everything you have been told is a lie!

Subject to the tournement/official game allowing special characters, yes, although not all do, eg most dark stars campaign weekends do not allow them

Yes it would. Please go to the effort to at least rename him though.

I disagree with Cheredanines comments though. They are the strongest in fluff but their rules don't properly portray them in fluff. Eldrad is about twice as strong as a normal farseer and I'm sure there are a lot of farseers out there that are 2x stronger than normal seers.

If anyone wants any kind of help writing fluff for any kind of GW army just ask.

That is a viable arguement, and generally why I dont kick and scream when I see it done, but desnt make it any more attractive to me

lol no offense but your a new member so you have to wait a while before you get any rep power. Feel free to give rep anyway but just be aware your not actually increasing peoples rep. :p

But yes people get annoyed when Eldrad Ulthran is leading Alaitoc or something into battle (or whatever you play). Its not hard to rename someone and it helps make your army fluffy.
