Welcome to Librarium Online!
Honour guard, most of you will hate them because they necessitate an ethereal. but bs4 without fiddling about with markerlights seems quite good to me, so i've elected to have a squad in my army.
i've got the fire warriors lined up infront of me. but i want them to look like fire warriors worthy of honour!
so i want to give them new hats/helmets/heads.
any ideas what i could use? i'm at a loss. preferably not eldar, it's too similar.
I didn't go cray with my honour guard. I figured these guys were still simply FireWarriors. The honour part came from the fact that as the best they were able to be chosen to serve personal body guards for an ethereal. I wanted mine to look a little more regal than the norm. Instead of my usual green I am going to paint mine a royal red. I also modelled cloaks out of greenstuff and attached these to make the figures stand out fromthe rest of my force.
I am going to attach a photo but please be forgiving as these have only just started being painted so there is little more than a base coat on them at the moment.
Here they are...
As I said this is not about the paint job but about the conversion work and my suggestion of how you could go about making Honour Guard figures...
I'm not sure what's so bad about the Ethereal.. admittedly I'm not really experienced with Tau yet, but just from the rules he looks pretty nifty.. The rerolling morale checks thing is nice, especially since you can reroll succesful ones. 50 points is quite a lot for an HQ who is useless in combat, but it's still a nice rule. Plus, you can get a BS4 markerlight on the Shas'ui.
I have to say, I love that French honorguard conversion.. The inclusion of the dire avenger loincloths is an excellent idea, and one I may have to steal, and that Eversor sword looks nice to. Although Tau can't really fight in CC, I think giving your honour guards some kind of ceremonial close combat weapon would look really good. Not sure about buying 6-12 eversor backpacks though..
Zarahemmer, yours are nice to.. nice GS work on the cloak.
