Welcome to Librarium Online!
I was just wondering if anybody here does any work on the DE models to make them look better... I really hate the warrior model. What I was thinking of doing is buying the Eldar guardian models and just giving them the splinter rifles... but if I do that will I have to modify them further? Also, where can I even get bits for the splinter guns since they come on the regular warrior sprue.
Do you think using guardians is a good idea? They look like an attractive model and I like everything about them... I just wished I could use them as DE warriors like they are now but I'm not sure if I can do that. Suggestions?
I took 10 of the bold heads with the pony tails, cut off the ponytails and used green stuff to create different style hair on them. They actually came out pretty good. I will try to post pictures later this weekend.
i lost out money-wise on my warrior preferance, but i didnt actually change anything, just set myself some guidelines (i didnt like the warrior models either, as GW displayed them).
1, wyches are female, warriors are male. i know it doesnt work like this fluff-wise, but i like the idea. so, no female warrior torsos. this alone accounts for my loss of money, i needed more boxes for the same amount of troops! this also means points 2 n 3 are viable options (the single female DE in the army other than the wyches is a she-incubi)
2, no hair. all spikey goodness! this includes non-helmeted head, 'skin'. i hate the skin eldar models, dark or craftworld. i also feel they look a bit more evil if they are all scythed-up and yep, this means i need to convert the Dark Lance models, as they have hair... or no spikes....
3, all splinter rifles were to have the blades, no "clean" splinter rifles. i wanted them all to look like a duel purpose weapon.
this means i have a bigger problem concerning models looking the same, but it helps me spend more time and effort assembling and posing the models to give each a unique action or pose. time consuming, yes, but in the long run, i hope it will work out!
ill watch this thread, i feel some great ideas for inspiration will appear here! good topic!

I can see using Guardians. I'm a huge fan of the Guardian models myself, and hate the statlines for them in the Craftworld Eldar armies.
My recommendation with Guardians:
Cut all spirit stones/other gems off. Modify their shuriken catapults to look different - not exactly like splinter rifles, but they don't have to be. (e.g., Imperial Guardsmen have Lasguns in the codex, but can be modelled with things like Autoguns, etc.) Then, add some spikes in various areas, and voila. Warriors.
I did completely different from you jonesie, instead of having all spikes, i opted for none!
No helmet spikes, very few bayonets, and very few bare heads. I then painted them in very dark green, similar to one of the codex colours, and varnished them to give a very sleek looks, as IMO the brigtly coloured dark eldar look mince, at least if they are dark it takes away from the rubbishness of the sculpts.
Also if you choose to go for comverted guardians a suitable dark colour scheme would be probably best, otherwise folk might confuse them with craftworld ones!
Give us pictures

A good way to do it, is to use guardian body. And simply interchange the weapn arms and the had for that of dark eldar.
Here is a sample pick:
Its a guardian, the shoulder pads are those of eldar guardians and the lgs stance is also that of guardians.
I agree with jONESIE about the hair and the spikes.
But lost nothing, I don`t like the mandrakes (they`re look like some kind of transfer), I used the hairy heads to convert mandrakes from warriors.
and I bought some fantasy Hordes of Chaos sprues, I took a nice sword for Decap, and some ugly heads and monsterous arms to make ubergrtos They`re realy looks uberugly. GW uses the warriors` body for the grots as well.
I took cloaks for the converted lords on skyboards.
And I tried the thin wire, it looks good in the simple warrior`s hand as an agoniser.
Maybe they are not so nice as the craftworld army (BUT I THINK DE IS MORE FANCY THEN THE OTHER ARMIES!)
