ive been reading posts and i keep reading something that doesnt make sense. its talking about how burnas are mean in CC. why? can you shoot them in close combat?
as an ork player explaned it to me is you can use a burna in CC as a power weapon. i dont know if thats true or the refrence for that. but if thats the case then a burna can realy hurt in CC

Yeah it's in the Ork 'Dex somewhere, probably Wargear section. Just one more reason why Orkses are bigger and meaner dan da little 'Umies.

only thing that stinks, is the Boss can't take one. A unit of Burna's w/ mek can take 5. I usually flame away the first round....if you've never seen 5 flamer's let go on one unit.....I love the smell of scorched grey knight in the morning. Only drawback is the average Str of orks for the CC side of it....against meq's it is just not that good. On vehicles they work pretty good also.
To clarify, you can use the burna in CC as a power weapon only if you do not use it to shoot that turn.

I dont know if im allowed to say exactly what the rules are, but the gist is burnas can kill most anything short of a wraithlord or daemon prince with good rolls, and not shooting it before you charge. everytime I have to make the choice, shoot or charge, almost always go with charge except against guard or eldar.
While a warboss might look good with a burna here are a few things to consider. First you couldn't claim having an additional combat weapon so you'd have just his base number of attacks. Second a Boss with a Choppa is str 5 bringing saves down to 4+ vs anything, he's a terminator killing machine even more than normal boys. 3rd if you give him a power klaw he's str 10 which is incredible when you factor in the number of attacks he usually generates around 6 attacks off the charge... making him a house

You can give burnas to most elite unites. They rock in the hands of skarboys with their greater strength. Watch your opponent's face when you charge that terminator squad of his! "What do you mean the orks attack first, with 9 attacks having no armour save!"
And don't forget that the burnas roll an extra dice for penetration when asaulting vehicles. You can chop up a Landraider if you get lucky.
If you drop a shell on your foot an it don't urt, your shoota aint big enough!
