Hey guys, reading through my rulebook and noticed that in the back of the book there is a breakdown of all the game units and their classifications. It says that warriors with leaping are considered beasts. I know that earlier (in the actual rules) it says that adding leaping doesn't make them beasts, but hey, you know. I can't complain if they DO become beasts when given leaping. Thoughts?
the answer is that the rulebook came out before the codex, so the codex overrules it. Warriors with leaping charge 12 inches, but are not beasts (as is stated explicitly in the codex).
Under the old codex, because of the rulebook, warriors with leaping were beasts, but now as per the leaping entry on page 33 of the codex, they specificly aren't considered beasts because the codex is newer than the rulebook and over rules it.

If only they were... then my swarms would be so much more consistent. But hey, they do kick some serious butt as they are.
Tyranids: 2500 pts
Imperial Guard: 1000 pts
Witch Hunters: 1000 pts
Is it just me, or did Warriors get beat with the nerf stick in the transition from 3rd to 4th?
Warriors aren't easy to use though. They are priced like Terminator Marines but they aren't as tough when something hits them.
Tyranid warriors with leaping would be cool, however they would be so cool that the points paid for them would bankrupt our swarms. Also because they would be so good nobody would ever take any other kind of Warrior. I prefer it that a fair variety of Warriors can be used than one all powerful breed pushing all the other out.
Leaping may not make Tyranid warriors into beasts, it does however work better than the standard 12 inch assault as it improves the range of the Warriors attacks.
