hey..um does anyone know what the Enslavers are? and why they posed a threat to the Necrons?
PM me about Aurora Prime Vassal fights! Willing and ready!
The only enslavers I know of, are the alien race outlined in the chapter approved article. They are basically floating brains who capture their prey with long tenticles and make them puppets.
Thing of large intergalactic puppet masters. Anyone know what Chapter approved article that was?

From my understanding, Enslavers represent a threat that dwells in the warp independant of the warp itself.
Sort of like bizarre /others/ as opposed to demons that dwell there, waiting for a living material entity to present itself so it can gain access to the real world. Presumably they're a threat to the necrons (or rather the ctan) because they represent powerful, stable, warp energies coupled with physical strength (think of stuff like daemons without instability).
The enslavers prey on psykers and their ilk, using them as doorways to capturing their bodies. Thats to say, they turn a given psyker into a warp portal.
From what I hear of them, they seem quite similar to the concept of daemonic possession, but they're thoroughly alien.
The enslaver plague represented an issue for the ctan (prompting their hibernation) because the creations of the Old Ones (and old ones themselves) started getting captured and possessed en masse by the Enslavers and the ctan wanted to lay low. The necrons seem to justify this as them waiting for the food supply to restock, but I think its more that the ctan didn't want to contend with a new, fresh, threat with overwhelming warp energy. . Some people also seem to think that the 'Great Work' was made to counter the Enslavers, not the Old Ones, and that is why it's relatively unfinished.
The enslavers eventually devoured the majority of the life in the universe and then presumably died out or retranslated back into the warp.
Thats what info I've got. I am FAAAAR from the final say though.
...someone should move this to Fluff though.
