Welcome to Librarium Online!
I can't decide what colours I wanted to paint my bugs. All the schemes I've seen fall into 2 catagories 1) Hyper-alien and 2) Realistic/ camoflauge. Hyper-alien covers the bright and gawdy colours like scorpion green, warlock purple, etc. The Realistic/ camoflauge is all the simple and "toned down" colours, like b' bone, browns, etc.
Is there any good pics of bugs to get my imaginitive juices flowing? (I'm thinking about doing hyper-alien colors)

I suggest perusing the LO Showcase, Tyranids section. I'm particularly fond of the bBone skin with yellow/black carapace colour scheme by AJ Tyrant(linked).

If you don't like the bright colors or the dull colors, why not combine the two, bright carapaces and dark little bodies, or bone coloured bodies, now I wish I'd done that with my nids, it sounds cool. But its too much trouble to repaint them all. Ah, I'll just put it towards a different army.
Legion Of Everblight: Abyslonia
Protectorate of Menoth: Grand Exemplar Kreoss
You can try a combination of the two colour schemes. You could paint the Tyranids mainly natural in bone etc. However areas such as toxin sacs, implant attacks and ammo feeds for thier weapons could be painted in 'hiper alien' colours. Bright green or purple areas would serve as a reminder that they are aliens.
If you want to do the alien look you could try to include black to tone it down. Giving them a carapace which is black will be a good way of complementing but not trampling on brighter colours such as green. Green and black work very well together to give a kind of alien look.
Either way I suggest you use fairly realistic colours for areas such as teeth and talons. I often use a dark, cold green for the talons of my Tyranids. This works well with the purple and black colour scheme I use, which is more to the alien end of the Tyranid colours.
