I took place in a huge megabattle at GW, this was my first game...
I have a ravener, Screamer-Killer,3 shooty warriors,20 spinegaunts, 20 deathgaunts...
he had 1 LR crusader 10 bloodclaws a venerable dreadnaught and a razor...
he obliterated me with out myself even touching him..(I only took out 3 marines)
Charging into battle was apparently not the smartest thing to do with him doing counter charge..but would there have been any way to have stopped his dread taking out 14 spine gaunts with a flamer...and rolling 3 1's with apower claw and completely missing a ripper base?
or hell any tactics in general????
If that was his army, then his victory doesn't mean anything, as it was an illegal one - he used only one troop choice.
Also note that the space wolf counter attack is not a real counter charge, he does not receive the attack bonus for this.
ArchonAstaroth what you said about the counter charge rule is correct, allthough some spacewolf characters with special wargear do recieve the bonus for assualting with a counter attack...
Anyways Slizarus, i play spacewolves and nids and i can say that the sons of russ have a real problem killing the tyranid big nasties, so take as many carnies and tyrants as you can
Army of the heavens, my army waits in hell
To battle on the earth, for all the souls who fell
I'll have to talk to him about the charge...I did notice he had some type of character in the squad which may have helped him, I know it had an invulnerable save and a better bolter of some kind... His LR helped destroy my carnifex extremely quickly
as for his troop choice we were playing a Prelude to treachery megabattle in which they had Horus
(this was before the heresy, I don't know how tyranids and necrons where around then but they showed up)
and anyone was allowed to put down anything that they brought with them...which allowed for 2 monoliths 1000 points of necron warriors
(from just one of the Necron players, we had 2) 40 scarabs 6 tombspiders, immortals, flayed ones...everything except the C'tan and pariahs.. and then there were the eldar and the DE...Greyknights made an entrance..we had spacewolves and DA..(after the SW killed me he attacked the DA)
in the end Horus teleported out and started virus bombing the field killing us all on the same turn ending in a draw
