Welcome to Librarium Online!
Probably been covered to a degree already, but this is slightly different than the standard how to build my carnifex questions.
I'm basically looking for 4 carnifex builds to use in a 4000 point game, each one different from the next (however slightly) and some tactics regarding weather to deploy them together, or split them etc
Anyway, here's my 4 builds I've got pencilled in if you can disect and regurgitate it for me
Venom Cannon, Scything Talons, Enhanced Senses - 136
Scything Talons, Crushing Claws, Mace Tail, Tusked, Adrenal Glands (WS), Toxin Sacs, Reinforced Chitin, Bonded Exoskeleton, Extended Carapace - 203
Carnifex 3: Two sets of Scything Talons, Adrenal Glands (WS), Tusked - 115
Carnifex 4: Twin Linked Devourers, Scything Talons, Enhanced Senses - 111
Any good? No good?
Carnifex 2 seems a little overloaded, but I kinda liked the idea of a uberfex.
Was thinking of possibly deploying them altogether and advancing them up the table together. Carnifex 1 and 4 shooting stuf as they go, and it serves multiple purposes then.
Firstly my opponent (SM's with lots of Plasma Cannons....) could choose to direct a hell of a lot of fire at these, meaning my other gribbly's get into combat quicker and with less casualties. OR, my opponent could semi-ignore them meaning a decent chance of all 4 making it into combat where they could stamp and smash and squish etc.
Also in the tactica it suggests that Tusked is a bad bio, but I like the idea of 6 attacks on the charge from Carnifex 3....
Any ideas most welcome
I can't say I've seen it all but I live for the things that keep me hollow.
I suggest you make at least two fexes into sniper fexes ie venom cannon barbed strangler, I know you want to keep them all different, but range is key to a fexes survival, you can keep the dakkafex[devourers] as he will become of use after a few turns. And with luck your uberfex will draw fire away from the other three.

Well since you said that your oppenet has lots of plasma cannons my first bit of advice would be give all your guys that you don't want to be elite bonded exoskeleton. As this then makes his PC only wound you on a 4+ instead of a 3+ which can be very usefull and pain in his side (also helps against missle launchers).
Also the thing on carnifex 3 is IMO tusked isn't worth it as you will be hitting SM on 4+ when you should be giveing him toxic miasma allows him to hit SM on 3+ instead which will help your fex not just on the charge. Also you should normally just keep your fex one way such as all CC or all range with range usually being the better. I would personaly go with one cheap CC maybe if your really want one expensive CC fex then range for the rest.
Is it me or does any other necron player get annoyed when they see people saying "Necrons eat souls". How is that even possible as souls are part of the warp and necrons want nothing to do with it? Eh probaly me just me being picky.

Generally, combi-fexes only really shine in small pointed games (below 700 or so) where they HAVE to fulfill multiple roles.
Why only four? For 4000 points, you should have eight. Do you know how much firepower a marine player will bring at 4000 points where they can afford all their awesome, overpowered weaponry? Heck, I know a Blood Angels player who likes to cram 20 or so assault cannons in 2500 points.
Are your carnifexes going to be heavy support or elite? Are you using two FoC charts?
Anyway, here you go, four different versions of carnifexes (though I suggest you take multiples of a few):
VC, BS, ES, RC (Five wounds, two S10 shots, 1 S8 big pie plate and relatively cheap)
2xTL-Dev, ES (if heavy support, take reinforced chitin)
2xScytal, FH, Miasma, AG-WS (hits marines on 3s, forces WS5 to hit on 4)
Uberfex (290 points-ish)
Crushing claws, scything talons, reinforced chitin, bonded exoskeleton, regeneration, flesh hooks, thorn back, scythe tail, bio-plasma, tusked, AG-WS, AG-I, Miasma, toxin sacs, etc., etc. (pretty much every CC and defensive bio-morph you can find)
I suggest at least two sniperfexes and two devilfexes. Ninjafexes aren't as dangerous as the other three, so shouldn't draw that much (in comparison) fire. The Uberfex, however, can absorb A LOT of fire and has a decent chance of regenerating a wound or two. Just don't harbor any ideas of it being a character hunter. It can probably mangle SM squads, maybe terminators if it gets a good CC roll, but it's still an invulsaveless carnifex.

A personal favorite of my is a carni with twin VC's, they're extreamly effictient vs and vehicle, you don't really need to worry bout hitting cuz a twinlinks bs 3 gun with 2 shots hits often...
carni, vc*2, es, ec, reinforced chittin and be comes to 223 points if I'm not mistaken.
the other one I like the bout same tooling sept for weapons, add 2 twin devourers instead of the vc's, works like a charm against fast armies, and toa ttract firepower.
these are the ones I usually use, the other one to attract a but load of firepower would be indeed the uberfex, tho i'd remove the regenerate cuz it just won't do it's points imao, less u give them to all, which would be a lotta points, but also opponents who don't do enuf damage in a single turn will get a bit annoyed if u manage to regenerate which should be possible with 4 fexes
else the one left would be the el cheapo ninja, tho you could also try the venomfex and the dev fex without the mass upgrades, tho I'd advice against it on 4k points
I'd say take 2 venom fexes and 2 dev fexes fully kitted out, with 178 for the dev fex and 223 for the venoms they take bout 800 points and can take a deal a lot of damage, kinda depends on list tho.
