Ok my friend is a tyranid player and he says that if his tyranids are 12'' from the Hivemind they are free from Leadership test including morale checks.
Is this true
Sadly my friend, yes they are. If they are withing Synapse range, they are lucky like that. All the more reason to kill the monsters.

Legion Of Everblight: Abyslonia
Protectorate of Menoth: Grand Exemplar Kreoss
For reference the Tyranid synapse creatures are Hive tyrants the Broodlord and Tyranid warriors. These things are always synapse creatures. Zoanthropes have the option to be upgraded to be synapse creatures if they want to be.
also i believe that they cannot be instant killed
Blind faith in bad leaders is NOT PATRIOTISM
Pessimism: Every dark cloud has a silver lining, but lightning kills hundreds of people each year who are trying to find it.
Synapse makes tyranids auto pass leadership based tests (not = to fearless). Except for target priority and psycic tests.
They also cannot be insta-killed from double tough weapons.

more witty remarks to come.
Also, if any unit in a brood is within synapse range then the entire brood gets the bonus.

Zon, paul, what you guys both said is exactly what Pathofskulls, Lost Nemesis, and Leech were hinting to without saying it directly. (Since giving out rules of abilities, part or whole, is copyright infringement and against the forum rules...)
