Just thought I'd let everyone know that we're currently working on a means of allowing LO users to play in a single 40k campaign against one another from the comfort of their own homes (or wherever you use the internet).
Using the new Vassal 40k mod (more information can be found here http://www.librarium-online.com/foru...ad.php?t=91765 (40k Online - The VASSAL Mod Clan) ), we're going to play an online 40k Campaign against one another!
As it stands, we're currently looking for a basic storyline, and a reason why each race would participate. That's where you come in! Post a quick explanation as to why your favorite army would get involved in the Campaign, and the Campaign Leaders will choose the best one for each race. Winner gets a prize (though we haven't yet decided what that'll be, rest assured that it'll be pretty nifty)! Post your ideas here: http://www.librarium-online.com/foru...ad.php?t=93223 (LO 40k Online Campaign, interested?)
Thanks guys, and hope to play you soon!
Might want to move this to 40k Campaigns, instead of just Eldar. I only spotted this because I make a habit of reading the boards of armies not my own.
As for storylines, storylines that involve the whole 40k army world tend to be difficult, if one staples things down too much. Medusa and Dark Crusade help to show us how it can be done though.
Give each army their own objective, an objective that brings them into conflict with an enemy, but try to avoid 'specific enemies.'
My personal suggestion is...
Altair Proxima is a small, verdant world bordering the rapidly expanding Tau empire. The planet itself is seemingly deserted, with strange obelisks and records from an ancient age.
The tau would have little interest in the planet, save for the fact that a 'rogue' ethereal is supposedly on the planet, leading the tau to try to conduct a rapid search for him.
The forces of chaos under the tumultous group of chaos lords known as the 'four winds' have been chased to the planet by the Imperium, along with their forces. However, as the four winds represent elements of the Thousand Sons, World Eaters, Emperor's Children and Death Guard, they quickly became disorganized on the planet, each with different intentions.
The Imperial Guard and Space Marines have chased down the forces of chaos to the planet, but due to the wide spread chaos forces, a given chapter or regiment isn't likely to trust one another, and potential corruption might call for the various Ordos of the Inquisition to get involved.
The eldar want to defend Altair because it is one of the maiden worlds and recapture an artifact usable against the 'Yngir.' They additionally wish to evacuate any remaining Exodites through the webway to another planet.
The dark eldar want to capture as many combatants as they can, as well as attempting to locate various plants and animals necessary to create some of their more potent narcotics.
The necrons are there to find and destroy an eldar weapon supposedly hidden somewhere amongst its greenery, as opposed to the usual routine of awakening somewhere on the planet. Also, slaves.
An ork space hulk, containing some orks infected by genestealers crashed on the planet and they intend to escape or make the most of any conflict they come across.
The tyranids have been drawn to the planet by their presence on the ork's disabled and grounded hulk, and are here to devour.
As to the contest, its not really easy to create motivation out of a vacuum.
Just thought I'd point you to the first post that lets you guys know exactly what we're planning, bwahahahahahaha!
