Just thought I'd let everyone know that we're currently working on a means of allowing LO users to play in a single 40k campaign against one another from the comfort of their own homes (or wherever you use the internet).
Using the new Vassal 40k mod (more information can be found here http://www.librarium-online.com/foru...ad.php?t=91765 (40k Online - The VASSAL Mod Clan) ), we're going to play an online 40k Campaign against one another!
As it stands, we're currently looking for a basic storyline, and a reason why each race would participate. That's where you come in! Post a quick explanation as to why your favorite army would get involved in the Campaign, and the Campaign Leaders will choose the best one for each race. Winner gets a prize (though we haven't yet decided what that'll be, rest assured that it'll be pretty nifty)! Post your ideas here: http://www.librarium-online.com/foru...ad.php?t=93223 (LO 40k Online Campaign, interested?)
Thanks guys, and hope to play you soon!
here are some tau ideas. commander farsight trying to gain more territorry for his enclave. possibly a highly populated emperial world or industrial world due to low resources for wars and such.
another one is a tau sept world or just a frontier world that was once an emperial world long ago. now the emperium is trying to get it back. the resaulting battles and such awake the necron underneath. it turn out its a tomb world. eldar come to fight necron. then ork Waaagh is atrracted by the large wars on the plannet, and decend upon it to wreck destruction. you could say that a tyrannid hive fleet sences the tumult of war and "food" and start to devour the planet. but problem with this is that the tryranids never fight necrons i've been told. then you can have choas decend upon the planet because they want to harness the power of a secret necron artefact.
Never give up. Never give up. HIT, HIT, HIT, HIT!
We can play a 40K game online? How does that work? What kind of time commitment are we talking about? I would love to spend a ton of time partisipating but unfortunately, or fortunately depends how you look at it, I don't have alot of spare time, what with kids and all. The idea sounds cool, a little more info about how the campaign works would be nice though. Thanks.
I don't really have any ideas about why my Tau would be involved other than the usual 'we are expanding and you are in the way' secnerio.
I vote "we are expanding and you are in the way"
Why wouldn't necrons fight tyrnaids (or vice versa). Both are involved in harvesting or eating all lifeforms, so if they tried to harvest the same planet, naturally they would fight over it. But I can see tyranid's not attacking a necron world with no life on it, but even then they would go after it because it makes tactical sense.

Hope to see you all there,
The VASSAL mod doesn't have a lot of the Tau units for icons... do we just substitute proxies?
Everyone else gets what appears to be a bonus from their empire. Tau get a penalty. If we withdraw, the enemy recovers better than if anyone else withdraws. Is there a reason for that? Kinda creates a barrier to entry if you know what I mean- especially since the vast majority of players already are Space Marines of some kind or another.
Perhaps it was meant to be that if the Tau withdraw, they use the better Unit recovery table, rather than their enemies using that table?
