Welcome to Librarium Online!
Thank you Fuzzy Wumpus, Rork and Ironangel, for your advice... Yesterday evening I massacred a Space Wolves army, with the following detachment :
Farseer, Runes of Warding, Fortune : 100
Maugan Ra : 195
6 Banshees, incl. Exarch with Executioner : 113
6 Harlequins (5 Kisses), incl. ShadowSeer and Troupe Master : 168
4 Wraithguards, 1 Warlock (Conceal) : 186
10 Dire Avengers, incl. full kit Exarch : 177
6 Pathfinders : 144
1 Wraithlord, EML, BL : 155
1 Wraithlord, EML, BL : 155
3 Dark Reapers : 115
Total : 1498 pts
This was my first victory with the Eldars since waaay back (old codex time...). The standoff strategy worked fine (was helped by Escalation, too).
My opponent had put too many Assault Cannons (6 : 2 Termies, 2 Land Speeders, 2 Dreads), which had too few targets owing to their relatively short range. He had 2 Dreads, 1 Annihilator, a Lord + Guards (incl the 2 Termies) in a Drop Pod, a Rune Priest with Blood Claws in a Rhino, 2 Tornadoes, and a Grey Hunter pack.
Mission was Bridgehead, Omega level.
It started badly as I made a positionning mistake for my Pathfinders. They were wiped out on turn 2...
The Wraithlords were central in the success, although they failed their penetration hits too often to my taste.
My Wraithguards were quite effective in blunting the edge of his assault (they killed some SWs, downed a Land Speeder and finally destroyed the Annihilator...).
The Banshees seemed too busy adjusting their masks : they didn't do a thing !
The Harlies were very effective, killed 4 SWs, 2 Termies and the SW Lord. They would have done more if there had been more warm bodies on the table...
The Dark Reapers were not too impressive : I think their effect was mostly suppressive, forcing my opponent to slow his advance by avoiding the DR fire lanes.
Maugan Ra gave a good parting shot in the last (8th) turn, exploding the final Dreadnought . Oh, I forgot, before that he zapped the lone Rune Priest into oblivion...
The Dire Avengers (1st time use for me...) seemed to be very versatile, and contributed to clear out the Blood Claws, shocked out of the Rhino by a nice Wraithlord shot.
So, thanks again, guys, for helping me with my list. It's good to have a clear cut success after many, many defeats with "trial" armies...

silly wolf pups! Space wolves excel at hth, not assault cannon gayness! I retired my space wolf army with only one loss (a hard battle with a full tank army). Grats on the win, but i think a real space wolf army would have been a real good battle. On the eldar side, I like the list. Two waithlords are awesome, as are the reapers. Why have you only won this once? With the list you have you should atleast be better then 50%. If i was you i would have dropped maugan ra and the farseer for an avatar.
Grats on the solid win.
Thanks, Greymonk !!!
I got to try Hawks and Hawk Autarch (not impressed !), double Fire Prisms (just once), Nightwing (twice, not impressed; waaaay too costly, I think, but the model is really nice...), Harlequins (now that is something serious !)...
Maugan Ra I just finished painting, that's mostly why he's on this new list. I will certainly be looking for something else to replace him in a more "regular" lists (many people still think that these "special characters" somehow cannot be fielded at will...) Would you have any other suggestion than the Avatar (I still have to paint that one !!)
Anyway, thanks again for the grats !
Glad everything turned out well for you! Show those SMurfs who's boss.
I like Avatars.
There ability to instill "Fearless" is awesome and they make a great counter-charge anchor. An avatar sitting amongst an eldar firing line will dissuade many CC types.
The fearless bit is what makes them great. A Phoenix Lord can in many cases be more versatile, but its nice to shore up your army with fearless.
"Orcs are what happens when Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles grow old and bitter."
proper term is Swolf. Just a wolf Player attracted to the post, good job on the win, hopefully your friend will have learned for next time that while the wolves can be an assault cannon force, they don't excel as one. Swolfs need bodies to fight, not guns.
Anyway, good job on the victory, go smack him about a few more times to teach him a lesson.

I'm glad to be of service Murek and even more glad that you wiped the floor with that loyalist scum ( my chaos side coming out). The list you have now is very solid and one thing I suggest doing to help you with tactics is to read this thread:

It basically goes over a very good strategy to use with a stand and shoot army. I think it would work great with your list. I would personally either keep MR in there as he really fist with the stand and shoot theme or change him out for an additional farseer with Doom, Mind War, and spirit stones. Using this set up will really help your units take down the maximum number of enemies before reaching your lines. Mind War can also be used to pick off advancing squad leaders with all of that nasty wargear that they carry.
btw, Cheers to Chere for the awesome tactica linked above.
IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT!
I survived LO Chat thanks to: Karmoon, Rabbit, Process, Tossy and Meish.
have you tried 3 warwalkers? or vypers? They work well with 2 waithlords.
But right now,I think I'll continue working with an infantry-based list. Then I'll move on to a Light-Mech (more or less what you propose, right ?), then to a Heavy-Mech.
I posted a modified list of my "infantry" army yesterday, going for Warp Spiders and a Spider Autarch to replace Maugan Ra, and the Banshees. I would be grateful if you could comment it !
Have a nice week-end !

By the way congrats on the win. Yup like greymonk said drop maugan ra. For table with lots of building take vyper mount with Shuriken Canon and Scatter laser 7str 6 shots each... number kills. 2 Vyper per group never 1 vyper.
