this might be in the wrong forum, if so im sorry, but my and my friend have been playin 40k for a while and we got most of the rules down. I've got basicly 2 make shift armys, Tyranids/SM, and I enjoy using both, but now ive come to a small problem. My friend has purchased tanks and transports for the S.M., and im not sure how to take them down, and I dont feel like remaking a new army. I have the following troops.. er Geneticly Enhansed Super Warriors :'p
1x Carnifex (syth, x2, adrenal gland, tusked)
1x BroodLord (rending claws)
2x Ripper Swarms
6x genestelers (with rending claws)
8x Haumogaunts.. (Adrenal glands, posion sac's)
30x Termaguants (4 with devours. rest with flesh
2x Hive Guards
1x Hive Tyrant (deathspitter)
if you guys can help me out I would be very happy... lol
Actually if you guys could just give me any pointers for extra guys and or new battle plans that would be helpful, im a bit new with the Tyranids so any advice would be helpful.
Indeed this is the wrong forum for this. I am afraid that I can't help you all that much since I don't play Tyranids. Place it either inside of the Tyranids sub forum or the Tactics-Stratigies forum.
<(^^)> <(^^<) (>^^)> ^(^^)^ Dance Kirby! Dance!
This belongs in the Tyranid section.
Since the person I play against the most is a friend of mine and plays SM. I noticed a trend of more transports and tanks being fielded.
- Hive Tyrant w/ Venom Cannon
- Hive Tyrant w/ wings, get to them fast.
- Zoanthrope(s) + Warp Blast
- Shooty type Carnifex w/ Venom Cannon
- Deep striking spore mine clusters (I think it's the bio-acid ones that have the good ones against tanks)
- I guess biovores if you really want to try that route. I haven't had any luck using them yet.
- If you have the old armourcast tyranid "tanks/vehicles" and your friend is okay with you using the Chapter Approved rules, you could field some of your own.
- Forge World current nasty bugs.
That's about all I can think of and I know it doesn't really help you since you're somewhat limited on models that you listed though.
Kinda sucks that on the "tank" side of things we can't show up with our own. Come on Forge World and GW, we want new shineyz!

ok first of all re make your carnifex into a shooty variant. my recommend layout is a barbed strangler, venom cannon. enhanced sences, extended carapace.
-this gives you 2 strength 10 shots and 1 strength 8 large blast shot,
and re do your tyrant with the guard and give him a venom cannon and a TL-devourer. enhanced sences. toxin sacs.
-this gives you 3 strength 8 shots and 6 strength 5 shots WOW!
if you re-do your 2 big guys in this manner you should have plenty of tank punching firepower
also on a side note your gaunts are illegal, all the gaunts in a brood must be equipped the same you cant mix weapons in a squad, so your devo-gaunts either need to be eliminated or put into a squad by themselves, in which case the minimum squad size is 8 i think (codex not infront of me )
oh also i would grab a few more squads of genestealers, and by the way Extended Carapace on ANY tyranid unit that gets you a 4+ save or better is MANDITORY!! trust me. genestealers with out EC are above average troops. but you give them EC and opponents are in for shock and awe! cause now they get a save from 90% of small arms fire (troop-non heavy weapons)
Shooty Carnifexs are great against tanks. My favorite is as follows:
(and whatever defensive upgrades you like)
This type will kill tanks all day, even Eldar and Tau skimmers because of the six Str 6 shots.
-Thread Killer Bryan
Tyranid Hive Fleet Typhoeus
T'au Empire, Bork'an Sept
