Welcome to Librarium Online!
Once again i pose a force organization idea. How many gaunts to a group? Does this number change based on the gaunt type? How many spinegaunts in one group? Hormagaunts? Any other kind of gaunts you can think of? Thanx for posting.
I feel that 16-24 Gaunts per brood is the most flexible and survivable, no matter the type.
"The meat things seek to destroy ourselves. They hunt us as we hunt them but they are weak and uncertain. The inferior flesh will be entirely destroyed, all biomatter consumed. Ourselves will fight to the last, all weak flesh must be devoured."
you can always have 8 - 32 gaunts, to my knowledge anyway, even if you have created a new one using mutable genus. The only exception is the new gaunt species on GW site, impaler gaunts etc they can have a max of 8 I think.
I tend to use a squad of 32 spine gaunts/terma (shooty ones that are cheap)
and around 24 hormagaunts (cc ones that are usually that little bit more expensive because of the leaping modification)
I do this to swamp the enemy and hopefully keep good units (eitha good at cc and dont want to waste units against them, or shooty units to stop them firing) in combat for along time while the other smaller units (eg genestealers and the big nids) smash up everything else

I find 16-24 to be the best as well. 32 is just too big and can't really move well or take advantage of cover. Especially with the hormagaunts in leaping i like to have as many in btb and within 2" as possible.
I love to field 24 guys each game. Its just the right amount. You cant kill enough before they get into combat. Most of the time at least 10-15 get into combat. But thats just from one brood. I have about 48-96 guys in an army each time.
All my gaunts have scything talons and leaping. I usually field around 24 per brood and 4 broods. The number of gaunts per squad will vary depending on how many species I have in my army. If I have 5 species, there will be 25 gaunts. catch my drift?
