Hey all i have a friend who decided to start a tyranid army and i have no idea how i can help him out and how well they can do in low point games. I ask this because I only play a godzilla list. Any help would be appreciated.

I suggest he start with the codex and a battleforce. That will give him 500ish points depending on how he builds it up. Also he should probably join LO, we can provide more help if we talk "directly" to him. A battleforce, hive tyrant & a second box of gaunts will get him off pretty well. As to what models he wants to use, ie lots of gaunts, hormagaunts, genestealers, I suggest he try out some different things before setting his models solid.hey all i have a friend who decided to start a tyranid army and i have no idea how i can help him out and how well they can do in low point games because you have to sart somewhere and i only play godzilla. any help would be appreciated.

Tell you friend to come here and READ all the stickies and tacitas and various threads here at LO.
There are many resources around here so your friend can get a good idea of what type of army he wants and how to go about building and using it.
He should feel free to post an army list in the apprioptiate section for critique by our experts.
As Path advised with his beard of justice - buy a codex and read it. Better still, LEARN it.
Also, please watch your grammar, spelling and try to follow proper sentence structures. Yes, these are forum rules and a requisite for posting.
It's generally better to save for another battleforce than buying up additional boxes as, unlike some battleforces, we can readily use EVERYTHING in ours--and most people do.

I've have three armies and have used several others and have to say that the Tyranids have (by far) the best battleforce in the game. Absolutely everything in there is useful and you get a descent amount of models. I built the majority of my army off of buying several battleforces. You'll get 8 Genestealers, 16 Gaunts, Several Rippers, 3 Warriors and a Carnifex. Everything you need for a fairly descent 500-point-ish force. Then, I'd add a Hive Tyrant, another battleforce and 3 Zoanthropes. That should create a descent army for a fairly reasonable price (in GW dollars).
Not bad at all.

1,800 + Points of Imperial Guard
1,600 + Points of Eldar
