The tau have been turning a blind eye to most of the activities of the kroot who sell thier combat prowess. When some prodigous Earth caste members discovered a particularly strong breed of merc. kroot, they saw an opportunity to enhance these warriors even further. Using part Battlesuit, part kroot technology, they were able to devise a new weapon to best utilize its considerable close combat abilities. Out of fear that many of these suits would fall into the hands of mercenary companies (who have been known to fight the tau in some engagements), very few important tau sub-systems were included.
Kroot Battlesuits are 0-1 in a tau army and take up a fast attack slot. I a kroot mercinary army they are not held to the 0-1 limitation, but may not take evolutionary adaptations. They are taken in squads of 1-4 and must always include a shaper.

Equipment: Enhanced Kroot double halberd with built in shield projector(Counts as a power weapon with storm shield), Speed boosters
Speed Boosters: Speed boosters are activated in the assault phase. A combination of neuroactive chemicals injected into the kroots nervous system and special sub-systems in the battlesuit, it allows the Kroot to charge 12" in the assault phase as if they were cavalry. Also, in the turn they charge they work out thier attacks at +2 initiative and +1 attacks.
Sadly (for the kroot at least) the bulky suits do not allow them to feed on thier kills. Battlesuits do not suffer from eaters of the dead. But due to thier bulk, they get none of the kroots fieldcraft, infiltrate, and may not have attached kroot hounds or krootox.
What do you think? I came up with this idea after I read the cyber tau post, I felt it made more sense for the kroot to fill this niche in the tau army, as opposed to members of the firewarrior caste. Model-wise, I see them as normal crisis suits, with a slightly more avian look. The halberds are the old grey knight halberds, but with blades at both ends like the kroot rifle, with a tau sheild generator in the middle. arms and helmets would be modified to look more kroot-y, not to mention to hold a huge halberd.

i would say somehow bring how strong the speed boosters are-they are WAY too powerful. id say maybe fleet of foot d6" and charge 6", during the fleet roll, on a 1, no bonuses. if not up the points another 10 each
just add +10 to the points and leave it as it is
well, the way I see it, for them to get into CC they have to slog all the way across the board, no tau jump packs or nothing. Not to mention no shooting attacks, shield drones and a measly 4+ save.
I just didnt think anyone would pay more then that for something thats pretty much just a 1-turn fire magnet.
