Are wraithlords affective without spiritseers. i havent feilded one yet but that 1 in 6 chance scares me on such a heavy target.
Is it worth getting the wraithlord into melee combat? does the wraithsword give a +1 attack?
fielding an army and trying to decide if i should include a unit of guardians with a spiritseer to accompany my wraithlord
Dreams give us a vision of a world unlike any we have seen. They present us with a glimpse of a better life; a goal to aspire to, and in the face of insurmountable odds, they provide us with the power to overcome, to live on, and to succeed where we would have otherwise failed.
The Wraithlord is a much more defensive unit than it used to be. Great for counter assult and tying up large squads.
I wouldn't waste the points on the Spiritseer.
The Wraithlord and Farseer should be buddies.
The Farseer can Mind War Powerfists and Meltas before they have a chance of getting too close to the Wraithlord.
the only problem i have with that is wasting a full unit just to keep the farseer from dying, that is going to be as big a target as the WL, but without the durability
Do you mean adding a unit to the Farseer so he can be near the Wraithlord?
No need. The Wraithlord is a Monstrous Creature, the enemy can't see past him to target the Farseer.
It all comes down to how you plan on using the Wraithlord.
Tank Hunting: He is more efficient at shooting tanks than chasing them down in CC.
CC Monster: Wraithlord is best served as a counter assault unit. He has too few attacks to make him really devastating in CC, even on the charge.
But the Wraithlord will make the enemy wary of closing with their own characters as the Wraithlord can Insta-kill most in one swing.
I usually stay away from the Wraithlord unless I have a slow moving element in my army, such as Scorpions, the Avatar, War Walkers, or Support Platforms to protect. The Wraithlord doesn't spearhead assaults like he used to.
another question, how do i go about preventing the WL from being bogged down by light infaltry units? a ton of light inf unit will keep that thing busy for a long time, how can i prevent that? do i go with the eldritch storm to pin units approaching the WL? or do i just try to intercept with DA/Guardians/Bikes

Farseer examples: Guide on War Walker squadrons. Fortune on massed Guardians in cover. Dooming potential Banshee targets. Or perhaps riding with the Jetbike squadron toting a Singing Spear.
Guardians: These guys count in large amounts. One squad with a weapon platform makes nearly no impact on the game. Three or four squads can support other units with heavy fire as well as providing more scoring units to take last minute objectives. The Avatar will make these units hard to get rid of.
Autarch: I find this guy a waste of points. The only way I use him is in a squad of Shinning Spears. He can give that unit a wealth of extra str 6 attacks. As far as putting him with shooty support units. There is so much in the list that puts out more firepower that this guy that he is wasted in this role. As for adding to CC squads. I don't think he helps out as much as the Farseer would.
I use my wraithlords as pillars in game. They hold down the battlefield and provide anti-tank fire. If a squad gets too close then i will double flamer it and charge it. I usually have 2 wraithlords and a squad of 3 war walkers. One wraithlord on the left, one on the right and warwalkers in the center. The farseer can provide wraithsight for both and guide the war walkers. Its a fairly solid core for my battleline.
i like the pheoniz lord, he gives all the specail abilities of a EX, more attacks, more wounds, stealth ability as well as making my scorpians fearless, this is my core squad right here. they are going to assualt and just start ripping into foes, this is the hammer, wile i have banshees/bikes/DA for my anvil. guardians supporting the middle, drawing the enemy into a deathtrap, forcing them to move forward. between the serpent, prism fire and WL, heavy units and tank will either be killed or pre-occpuied try to kill my heavier forces.
i just dont know what i would replace the guardians with, i guess if i drop the guardians and farseer i could get another unit of DA, or pick up another bike squad, whats the best course of action?
