Welcome to Librarium Online!
I wanted to ask all of the eldar players about rangers. How do you deploy them? Do they do good against horde armies? How do you deploy them to maxamize surivabilty?
You know what they say, if you dont like the weather in houston...go back to where you came from
I usually delpoy them in a forest, behind my main army. That will reduce LoS and give a nice 4+ cover save.
I've tried deploying them in the front of my army, but that just means that they'll get picked on.
I toss mine on a hill so they can see stuff. Against low leadership horde armies, such as Orks, they can be useful with pinning, but against Tyranids with certain mutations, or other high leadership troops their not so great.

Wait, you mean that optimism isn't fashionable anymore?!
Lord of Smart-ass Youthimizzles.
Soup's up, bitches!
I put mine as far back as possible (to avoid short ranged weapons, in cover (to give them cover saves and no they dont do well against horde armies - basically they are best against high toughness creaturs, usually these dont have a brilliant save, but whilst they will take down bodies in a hoard army they are so expensive they tend to be too few to actually have a major impact by themselves, that said they are usefull if you are facing a hoard army like Lost and the Damed - which may have a greater demon as a HQ
Everything you have been told is a lie!
I deploy my Rangers behind my army, usually in some form of cover, then use them to pin low Ld squads to give my army a chance to pick the squads off. I also use them to deal with high toughness HQs (The Ap1 shot comes up more than you’d think).
