Umm......are they still sold anymore?! I havn't checked my retailer yet but online they seem pretty much scarce . Why are they gone??
More importantley do they even have a place in the new eldar dex? Because there can be no more 6 man disposable flamer squads is there really any reason to take these units over Dire Avengers?

If someone helps you, or you just like what they say, rep them
As far as I know they can still be bought. They are in the new codex and have the options of giving models flamers or fusion guns. I choose them over DA's because they are more expendable, more numerous and come with the special weaponry.

They're still on the online store in AUS so I presume they're still on sale. I hope they get updated to 10 man boxes soon.
I plan to use mine as 10 in a serpent /w 2 fusion guns (I buy a box of 8 then stick 2 fusion guns on 2 guardian defenders [from the old 16 man box] to keep from buying 2 boxes). They will be accompanied by an enhance warlock and a cheap autarch /w power weapon/mandiblasters. They should be able to pack a punch as much as my scorpions or banshees and provide another serpent on the board.
And dire avengers aren't the end all units... when you come right down to it your average marine squad will still beat 10 avengers + bladestorming exarch in a serpent.
I like them almost exactly how LL said except I like to stick Yriel with them instead of the cheap Autarch. They pack a huge punch in CC and in the event they get bogged down you don't feel bad about using Yriel's template.

You should be able to bit order the cc weapon arms from the GW site. I'd find the Guardians to put them on somewhere else. ebay? I have a 20+ Storm Squad I put to gether this way.
I usually take a 20 man squad with warlock with conceal. In a 1500pt or less game I'll back them with an autarch with mandiblasters, power weapon, and fusion gun, and a farseer with doom and fortune.
In games at 2000+ I'll replace the autarch with the avatar. The unit becomes more counter assault, but is still hard to get rid of.
I still think defenders are better than storm guardians, especially as defenders with weapons can FoF/ride transports. They get 2 S4 and 2 S3 attacks if they shoot and charge compared to the 1 S4 and 3 S3 of the storm guardian (and then there's the heavy weapon on top). Combined with the avatar or fortune they'll still grind down the opposition just as well as storm guardians.

Also Rork the storm guardians consistently give you those attacks in cc, when you charge with the guardian defenders you're down to 1 S3 attack each. Also storm guardians give flamers and meltaguns.
Guardian Defenders could also make them fall morale or kill the only models in charge range, although this is probably good for them as they don't want to be in cc. Storm Guardians are pretty much guaranteed all their shots/attacks though.
4 months ago I bought 6 boxes of storm guardians from GW. They are listed under the clasic troops section. They come with the plastic guardian defenders sprues and metal heads/arms. Each box has enough parts to make 8 models. I'd like to note that only 6 pairs of melee arms are included with the box as they expect you to model 1 flamer and 1 fusion gun. So you must order extra arms to make use of all your models if you dont want extra flamers/fusion gun models.
