i would like to use my Warbikes in my army list.
but what is the advantages n disadvantages of using them?
Warbikes make an excellent flanking unit/quarter grabber. The psyco balsta into an opponents flank is alot of fun. That and the twin linked big shoota is just nice all around.
Point cost is prohibitive. Models are a little clunky on a crowded table-top.
All in all I like to use them for hunting foot slogging terminators :w00t:, but that is just my personal preference.
Warbikes are fast tough and have a good save by ork's anyway and it can usual be taken away. This bonus can help your whole army out by screening it. That helps more foot sloggers get there.
The warbike also have hard hitting weapons that will hit more than not. Only thing is that they are short ranged(18") But they can be used when the bikes charge. Meaning you strike first and you can ignore armour of some enemies. Also theses attacks are at a higher strenght and equal the number of attacks you would get on a charge anyway.
Warbikes are also great because they are more or less fearless.
The only badd thing is flamers will wipe out the bikers quickly aswell as battle cannons.
Also they are expensive.
But for only a few points more than a full grot squad 5 bikes can do almost the same thing as the grots with out having to lose grots every time you pass a cover save
Prey they don't take you alive
thanks for the suggestion...
i'll give them try
For me, the bikes serve as a instant-in-your-face-deal-with-me problem for my opponent.
any player you are up agianst who have felt the wrath of Twin Linked Big Shootas will know that the bikes are going to be a problem for them.
i use my bikes, albiet they are expensive, as a save for my foot sloggin boyz coming up in the rear of the battle field.
i know that they are going to be shot to pieces in the first round and if i am lucky, they will make it to the next round and assult.
but, the cover save they have thanks to the fact they kick up so much dirt and the fact that they save my boyz so much fire, they are worth the risk.
i usually couple my bikes with a warbuggie and i rarely field more that four bikes on a 2000 point game.
they are worth it.

Warbikes are tricky. They can't be run like Sluggas or Stormboyz right in somebody's face, there's too few of them. I use them as a speedy response unit and screen. Since they have 4+ cover always, stick them in front of your lines for cover all over the place. They can hit fairly hard, but with 12 max in the unit don't run them as a primary assaulter. They have awesome firepower and speed, so harass, whittle down, and smash into them with some Boyz as support.

Of all the Ork units in the Ork army, I'd say that warbikes are one of the least fearless (the only one worse I can think of, besides grot units, are deffkoptas). They don't get fearlessness and they usually have to take a panic check after 2 casualties. With the bosspole they have around an 84% of passing that test, but that's far from fearless, and in close combat that save will probably be much worse.
Their advantages are speed, the fact they always get a cover save, the fact they're never slowed down by terrain (although moving through it can be dangerous), their great shooting ability, and their effectiveness at taking down armor. Supercharge them the first turn, then swing them behind an enemy vehicle, unload the shots into the back, and then assault with the nobz's powerklaw. Against melee focused opponents (like Tyranids) they provide invaluable fire support as well.
Their disadvantages are their poor close combat ability, relatively expensive cost, the relatively short range of their guns, and their inability (in most armies) to claim objectives.
I like warbikes, but I'd use rokkit buggies first, just because they're cheaper, and spend the points on more troop choices. If all the troop choices were filled, or I had a way of making the warbikes scoring units, then I'd definitely add in the bikes.
On a side note, units of nob bikers are awesome, especially in close combat, but that's really a different unit altogether.
I use warbikes in units of 5-6 with a nob, bosspole, and powerklaw.
I use nob bikers in units of 5-7 with a painboy, cybork bodies, waaaugh banner, bosspole, 2-3 powerklaws, and combi-scorcha. I usually also attach a warboss with a bike, powerklaw and cybork body, to add more close combat power, improve their leadership save, and make the unit scoring.
in about 2 of my last 10 games they were useless, 2 times shot apart by eldar.
but in my last game, with just 2 and 1 nob i managed to kill a full sisters of battle squad and an indepent character of them
i really like, a bike
Ah, sorry I didn't know I was necro-posting.
I agree, Wazdakka is a lot of fun. If his guns were twin linked, he'd be a bit more competitive. As it stands, he's really for fun bike lists, but I've done well with him even in tournaments, so he's definitely not to be discounted.
I use bikes for getting a p fist to an anoying peice of armor I need smashed. I have a bike with warboss with them too to help with that task as well as the extra leadership. My bikes are usualy behind my advancing trukks until they are close to their target.
If I wasn't anoyed by rocket buggy models I might use those instead but I like my bikes, I find them to be more versatile anwyay. I'm also skeptical of buggies because of kill point issuues.
