Welcome to Librarium Online!
Right now, I'm converting an on-foot lord and a destroyer lord to have interchangeable arms, but I'm having some serious trouble with the $^@&# weapon arms on the left. I have one arm with a warscythe, and the other with a Staff of Light. I'm using magnets to make the weapons swappable, but it's so frustrating I'm on the verge of saying, "Screw it, I'm just gonna glue 'em in permanently and be done with it!"
Trouble is, being inexperienced in battle with these metal boys, I'm wondering: Is there ANY chance I would ever wanna use a warscythe on a WALKING lord? I can't imagine how, since the only cc unit I have right now are scarabs, and the only other cc units I expect to get in the future are flayed ones, and since those infiltrate...
The other problem is: What about the destroyer lord? If I glue everything in place, he'll be stuck with the warscythe. Is this a bad thing? I would want the SOL if he were running with my destroyers, but if he were with the scarabs, it would be the warscythe all the way. What are your experiences? Should I soldier on and finish the magnetized conversions as planned?
I give a warscythe to a walking lord on many occasions and have been happy for it.
It is an excellent deterrent for CC oponents. Its good insurance to have him milling about your warriors for when they get assaulted.
In my opinion, the warscythe is an excellent upgrade whenever you have the points. The staff of light's shooting is nice, and if you intend to support destroyers with the Destroyer lord, then the staff of light may be the way to go. I see it as more of an "insurance" upgrade for when they get stuck in.
What I did, was bits ordered an extra torso for the destroyer lord and pinned the body(The pin glued to the torso, but not to the destroyer body) so I can hot swap the bodies.
As far as the walking lord, I almost always give him a warscythe anyhow.
Hope this helps Canew.
W/D/L Eleventy trillion billion/NONE/ NONE - I am STILL rulezor!
WINDMILLS DO NOT WORK THAT WAY!
The think is, there is nothing saying exactly what a staff of light looks like, and if your lord has a 'special' warscythe which looks different, then thats fine too. so just choose your favourite for each model and fix them permanantly.
Wish i could get a pic of my destroyer Wraithlord up here, unfortunately my brother broke it into constituant parts! Anyway, on it i combined the scythe and staff into one weapon. looked cool for a destroyer lord.
I think that after ordering parts, including the shipping or ride to the local GW to pick up the parts, it might be better to add just a little more $$ and get another Lord figure on your next gaming-night trip. This way you get another model to paint, possibly in different color scheme, plus you do nto have to spend 2 hours on the soldering meltdown... That is at least what I am going to do for my third Lord
EDIT: Only one thing. Have you found any WYSIWYG issues with them?
Nope, never had and WYSIWYG issues. Everyone ive ever played has been ok with it if i wanted to class his staff as a warscythe or visa versa.
About your CC options, I would get 2-3 wraiths before anything else.
Your mother has a signature.
PSSSSSSTTTT *looks around* not to be super shady or anything but........the warsycthe and staff of light look awfully similar, and even if your wisywagging, people still wont notice, as long as you have the appropriate points listed.
PM me about Aurora Prime Vassal fights! Willing and ready!
There's a new lord coming out for apocalypse, I believe. He might have a scythe though. I think there's a thread in the rumours section.
No more NG spearmen, thanks! Now I need some pump-wagons!
I allways give my lord a warscythe its olny 10 points and woth every point slap on a veil of darkness and teliport behind a tank. U can see your lord takeing out leman russ tanks and ant other tank with a rear armour value of 10 u can kiss them goodbye. I seen a lord take out a land raider lol now thats a kick in the *&^*^
