My Favorite is Falcon + Scatter Laser + Shuriken Cannon + Spirit Stones + Vectored Engines. This allows it to shred Light to medium infantry and tanks yet still easily transport troops closer to the battle field. Any thoughts?
Falcon w/ Starcannon, Shuriken Cannon under-mount, Spirit Stone, Holofield
In addition to this I'd like to add a small payload of Fire Dragons. This set-up is quite common I think but the main reasons I take it are:
- Nice amount of high strength, low Ap shots to deal with those elite infanty units or large creatures.
- Two Scoring units that can easily make a push for an objective during the last turn.
- While Fire Dragons are excellent at killing vehicles, while they're doing the the Falcon can easily target something else, effective hitting two different targets
- The Falcon itself has enough shots to hinder large squads with the inclusion of the Shuriken Cannon.
Oh I'm also quite in favour of:
Falcon w/ Scatter Laser, Shuriken Cannon under-mount, Spirit Stone, Holofield
In addition a small payload of Dire Avengers with an Exarch with Blade Storm, quite an obvious set-up with advantages like the set-up above but more focused on anti-infantry.
falcon with dual cannons + spirit stones + holo field + Vectored Engines carrying a 6 man unit of halries..... mmm....mmmm... good.
IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT!
I survived LO Chat thanks to: Karmoon, Rabbit, Process, Tossy and Meish.
Falcon with dual cannons, holofields while carrying six fire dragons.
I've been bitten by the Cheredanine bug now in that I prefer my falcon empty.
Falcon /w pulse laser, scatter laser, twin-cats, holo-fields, spirit stones
Purely because the falcon only comes with a scatter laser in the freaking box. Otherwise I would prefer a starcannon for my empty falcon to make it more specialised. Pair of shurikannons is also good if you plan to use it as a transport.
I've tried just about everything in falcons, fire dragons worked brilliantly when my opponent took a land raider but thats just because my opponents all like their land raider models, besides I have lances for that.
Banshees didn't work so well because they made me change my army list, if I took banshees I was forced to take scorpions as well so that they could fight together.
The few times I've tried harlequins in them doesn't really count, I got horribly unlucky every time and my falcon was gunned down. I guess people are just scared of the harlequins...
I didn't like scorpions in the falcon. They work so much better in a serpent. Banshees in a falcon can provide support to a cc or rescue an avenger tarpit but 6 scorpions don't do much, its basically an expensive power fist.
Surprisingly the best results I've ever had in a falcon was a minimum 5 man avenger squad, no exarch. It just tags on another scoring unit to your army and theres no pressure for the falcon to go forwards. I always choose last turn of the game (and my opponents usually choose 1st so I tend to get it), I drop off the avengers on 1 counter or table quarter and move/fleet onto it. Falcon flies off 24" to hold or contest another one.
Meaning even if I get torn apart I can still hide my falcon and win the game (or at least draw it).
But then I play all out vehicles, my falcons don't spend the whole game shaken.
Last thing I've got to try is a lone phoenix lord inside. Probably Fuegan as he can kill a lot and survive well on his own.

If anyone wants any kind of help writing fluff for any kind of GW army just ask.
I like my Falcon's like I like my hamburgers - loaded up.
Pulse Laser + starcannon/scatterlaser + shuriken cannon + holo fields + spirit stones + vectored engines + 6 Fire Dragons
Totally survivable in almost every situation, great payload to kill all kinds of things, vehicles, monsters, terminators, and enough firepower to take down squads, vehicles, monsters etc.
Some people hate the falcon, but I love them.
Generic Minis - My Blog
Sounds good, but once out of the Falcon the Fire Dragons are very vulnerable and get shot down very fast. OK, they can kill a Land Raider or similar, but after that they die, don't they?
I am about to model 3 Falcons in this sheme so please (!) correct me if im wrong. ^^
And it seems Im also pretty lonely with my view..
In my experience an army gets better the less situational upgrades you use. The Falcon is great for its durability and transporting, once he gets Spirit Stones and Holo Field.
I plan to use him with just that and an additional 5 point Shuricannon.
The other weapon upgrades are not essential imo, especially when you consider that the Falcon will propably get stunned often.
His role is to deliver Troops (Harlequins and Firedragons), so he will move close anyways. In this role extra weapon range is not much needed.
The remaining difference between Shurican Cannon and linked (!) Shurican Catapult is not that big against most infantry. ( 0,25 MeQs vs ~0,4 MeQs or 1,0 GeQs vs 0,8 , so against 5+ saves the Shurican Cannon is even worse ).
The Scatter Laser only provides one additional shot at strenght 6. Add in ballistic skill 3 and you end at maybe 1-2 additional hits per game if everything goes not too bad. This means ~0,4 MeQ per game for 10 Points under good conditions.
Against light Vehicles or side armour the additional strength 6 shots can be worthwhile though. So overall Shurican Cannon upgrade and Scatter Laser are the first upgrades Id consider to invest some spare points into.
The other weapons like Starcannons are overpriced imo, given the other options in the codex.
Vectored Engines are another upgrade many favour. I find its pretty expensive for the low chance to get used at all. I wont say its bad. I just feel it makes you play more for draws then for victories, because the more points you invest to make your army indestructable, the less points you have left to buy things that actually kill stuff.
