      I like the colour scheme, the mud effect is nice too. The question is was it a check or laminate type effect you were going for?

      The effect was intended simply to be a way of shading. It works very well with Nurgle and other 'dirtied' up minis. However, the cross-hatching pattern on this marine is simply meant as some sort of decorative pattern.

      Dark brown as a base (bestial I believe), then good ole snakebit leather and finally a 5/1/1 mix of water, snakebite with bone white on the edges (3-4 coats).

      Oh, and afterwards, I washed the entire trim in an extremely diluted bone white- 10/1 (water/bone white). I did this a few times, gradually adding just the hint of lightening with each coat.
