FRACAS 2013 – Flames of War small army tournament
One of my favourite tournament events in the last couple of years has been FRACAS a 600-650pt single day FOW event.

An odd thing happened at Horned Gobbo this weekend not once during the entire weekend did I engage in the usual tournament ritual of re-writing my army list after every game and at the end of the each tournament day.
Day 2 is done and Im home in front of the fire with time to reflect on another great WHFB event.
Well not a good day, in fact my worst ever at a WHFB tournament event with 3 losses in 3 games including to absolute 0-20 thrashings.
One of the major dilemmas for High Elf players is whether to model and paint the new Phoenix as either the Flame or Frost version.
Well the army lists for Horned Rat Gobbo came out over the weekend and were quickly followed by the usual round of net analysis.
Version 3 of FOW has been out for a while now and Battlefront have finally released an update version of the games FAQ or “Lessons from the Front” I gave it good read through last night and wasn't surprised by most of what was included.
Had an interesting situation crop up while playing against Calebs Warriors of Chaos on Thursday regarding the High Magic lore attribute and how the WS is affected by the Mage leaving the unit. Situation was as follows: L2 with Phoenix Guard successfully casts spell from High Magic – L2 and PG get +1 WS L4 with White Lions successfully casts spell from Lore of Shadow and swaps places with L2. Now the question was – what happens to the +1 WS that the High Magic lore attribute grants? The lore rule states that “The caster and his unit get +1WS” Now normally the standard rules that cover Augments and Hexes would apply here but a Lore Attribute is neither an augment or a Hex even though it acts like an Augment.
After Thursday nights game I decided to submit the list I used that night for next weekends WHFB tournament Horned Gobbo.
