Warhammer Wiki and Dave’s thoughts on the subject

Warhammer Wiki and Dave’s thoughts on the subject

This Warhammer Wiki explains what gamers mean when they talk about Warhammer with my take on it. When gamers talk about Warhammer really they are on about two games from Games Workshop (GW), though it’s worth mentioning that GW has many other titles under their belt. Both games use are very similar, both are tabletop wargames, use roughly the same gaming system, are part of the fantasy gaming genre and are 25mm scale each, but there the similarities end. GW’s first game is Warhammer Fantasy. The game simulates an old world fantasy pitch battle where Orcs, Dwarves, Elves and Men form units of infantry and cavalry to

Warhammerology – Scouts

Warhammerology – Scouts

There is always someone in front of huge armies scouting and reporting back. The enemies’ position is essential information for every general, and closely following their maneuvers and tactics can benefit greatly. This is job for scouts. Not only in front of big armies but also in smaller missions and guerilla fighting, scouts are excellent due to their fast movement and surprise factor. Many missions failed because of the ambushes set by scouts. No matter how small or big, every army should have a unit of scouts. Before we go on with Scout tactics some basic scout rules should be explained. Scouts are deployed after everything else was deployed. In case that both players have scouts, dice should be rolled to determine who deploys first. Unit of scouts can be deployed anywhere on the map, but it must be at least 12” from an enemy units

… in which I seriously have the best ideas!

… in which I seriously have the best ideas!

I got hit with the creative billyclub hard this week. Now that all the pressure is off from school, I’m finding more time to relax and do hobby stuff. Unfortunately, I'm also the most forgetful person in the world, I meant to upload some pics of my army board as a WIP, but I left the camera out in the car.

Angelus Mortis Stomps Da Red Finga

Angelus Mortis Stomps Da Red Finga

Yeah, it seems uneven. But it’s only uneven in the model count, not their abilities. OK, I have to admit, I never fully read through the Blood Angel codex. The reason is that I get so far along every time I try to read it through and all I see is “blah, blah, assaulty spess marinths, blah, blah, blah”. Not very interesting to me. I think my nephew, Drakur, knows this and decides to run things against me more to just mess with me than anything else. Through him I think I’ve seen just about every unit in that damn codex now. And then he’s taken everything and has done something totally crazy with it just to show me how messed up the rules are. 1,000 points of Orky Goodness So in our most recent game he decided to bring Mephiston and a Furioso Dreadnought with Blood Talons.

Skaven list trial and a swap deal

Skaven list trial and a swap deal

Over the past two weeks I have started assembling and building a new fantasy army for a tournament in a weeks time. The problem with this is I have had no time to play test the list to see if it is competitive and I know how to use it. I have now remedied this by playing two games, against high elves and

Risk! Godstorm

Risk! Godstorm

Risk and Monopoly are definitely two most popular games that anyone who doesn’t live under the rock have heard of. If I wanted to explain some wargame like Warhammer in one sentence to some people (media, journalists) that see all that for the first time, I say it’s a Risk, just much more complicated. It’s a fact that Risk is one of the most played boardgames in the world. It’s also a fact that Risk is very simple game. Gamers that played anything else, and tried some complex boards are likely to skip a game of Risk, but there are many people who likes to play Risk and don’t want to try nothing else. Wizards of the Coast (ok, Hasbro) well knew that, so they tried to make some Risk variants. They did amazing job with Risk 2210 (set in future) and Risk Godstorm. Risk Godstorm is set in the world of myth and magic (if you look at the list of designers, you’ll see some names from D&D realm, so what else to expect than fantasy?) and is set in Europe and surroundings, or to be precise, Ancient Earth.

Hobby: The postman cometh!

Hobby: The postman cometh!

Well this weekend off I have actually something 40k related now I’ve received my 40k presents 🙂 I’ve received two Manticores which will finish my Guard army off, I managed to build these last night so I am hoping I can paint them over the weekend which will completely finish the Guard army off as everything else is painted and based. I also got a box of Grey Knights which I build last night – these will be my Purifiers but I need to get another as I am using squads of six. Must say very cool looking models. Hoping I can paint these at the weekend too. Lastly I’ve got plenty of paint supplies which I can paint the bases of the Tyranids and get them finished this weekend too. I also need to wash some models properly as I didn’t have enough wash left to finish them off. To top it off I’ve received Fall of Damnos and Victories of the Space Marines books. I started Fall of Damnos last night and it kicks right off into the action. Looks like it’s going to be a full 40k weekend with two armies being completed.

Second entry in the Soul Reapers Batt Rep contest

Second entry in the Soul Reapers Batt Rep contest

With the contest almost finished, Neil and Pat from the 11th company take the Soul Reapers for a successful outing on the tabletop! Neil used a very interesting Titus, Praetorian list. Just like the first entry from Carl of the Independent Characters this was another down and dirty Slobberknocker of a game. Thanks for the support guys! The contest officially ends on the 30th at midnight PST.

Finished – no not really…

Finished – no not really…

A test fit of all the final parts While the missus is out and about, and nothing but Royal wedding is on the tele, I decided to crack on with the build and got it to the point where I need to paint things before I can glue further. You can see from the feet which face foward how I have twisted the body to the right slightly, swaying off the left foot which is lifting The main body assembly is complete in two parts which the dry fits I have done show everything lines up as it should. I have also attached all the exterior decoration I plan on adding using the resin accessory bits provided in the kit. Broken down into the major component parts Splitting it down the middle like this allows me to get into both the rear engine bay and central stations for painting, and gives me a simple facing to pin and join the two halves together ( i have already pre-drilled all the pinning points. The rear engine sections come in 3 chunky parts, but with awkward contact areas which made pinning a challenge. In the end I managed to get 3 pins into each bit from varying sides and angles (one into each bit through the main engine bay which has left a nub of rod I couldn’t cut flush – but it blends with the engineer stuff so hopefully painted it wont be obvious) so hopefully it all holds – it seems solid as a rock but I will still be careful about who touches it and where it goes. You can just see the movement I managed in the left foot – lifting slightly off the ground ready for the next step – not too flashy but it doesn’t unbalance the final model either I was really worrried about the final balance of the model but the weighting has leveled off with the twst I put into the pose. I do wish that I had twisted the feet outwards though, and that I had gotten the weapon arms pointed downwards more than I managed – that was a result of the glue taking a while to form a firm bond and having to find a pose to hold it in while I waited for that to happen – judging by eye how it lined up with the body, and how that would eventually sit with the rear part of the model – hard to do before it is built and you only have two hands to try to hold multiple pieces together while you dry fit. I have kept the cockpit pieces, an inner bulk head door, the shin plates, head and top carapaces and the cables loose for now and will paint them prior to putting them onto the final model. Everything ready for attachment to a base and then priming I will be building a base for it tomorrow hopefully and will probably pin it to that before priming (picked up a new can of spray last night) and then I can hopefully start the job of painting it.
