Mardumesh Painweaver Undercoated

Mardumesh Painweaver Undercoated

Well after a lot of work Mardumesh Painweaver is built and undercoated. The big disappointment in all this is that he’s going to the big ebay in the sky. Such is my fickle attitude towards army choices that I want to instead go ahead with an army project that was vying for my attention when I decided initially to go with the Daemons. I’m keen to see somebody do something with Mardumesh so he’s up for auction. Happy bidding anybody that is interested! I’m confident he’d make a great centrepiece mini in pretty much any chaos army. Whether he’s a Keeper of Secrets in a Fantasy or 40k Daemon army or a Generinc Greater Daemon for Chaos Space Marines or even a Daemon Prince in any of the Chaos Marines, Warriors of Chaos or Daemons armies. All the details can be found here . I also have a few bits and pieces listed at 99p so please check them out too as there might be a few bargains to be had! There’ll be more on the new army soon!

Citadel Metals – Battle’s End

Citadel Metals – Battle’s End

I warn you now, this post contains a profundity of maudlin sentimentality, so if you’re not ready for some serious nostalgia, best to pass by… I’ve been a gamer now for 25 years, and I’ve enjoyed every minute of it. I’ve made a lot of great friends through the hobby in that time, and I love it as much now as I did when I picked up White Dwarf issue 95 (which I still have) as a 12 year old and was immediately hooked. My first miniature was a scimitar wielding chaos dwarf, which I also still have. (I’ve only just started a chaos dwarf army, so he’ll certainly be seeing battle again soon) So, it’s with some small sadness that I say goodbye to the metal Citadel miniature. Back when I were young, it was all metal, far as the eye could see lad! The first plastic kits were only just about to appear, the legendary space marine RTB01 set for 40k, and the fantasy regiments set for warhammer. The Citadel miniatures of the mid to late 80’s are still among my favourites. The change to resin certainly feels like a full stop on an era. Like most, (let’s forget the price hike for a minute) I’m approaching this with cautious optimism, I’m still a little concerned about it’s sensitivity to heat, it’s durability and how safe it is to work with as far as filing and dust are concerned, but I guess that’ll all come out in the wash soon enough as folks get their hands on them

Dais of Doom – Finished

Dais of Doom – Finished

The Dais of Doom has finally been completed, and I am quite pleased with the results. It was hard to keep the brush off the model, it just begged to be painted (and to go kill astartes…) Unlike many other minis, he just kind of zipped past the painting table. I think I am finally getting the balance right between the different colors while keeping to the predominant bone tones. Until next round… Be well.

Kingdom Death

Kingdom Death

When I was a little boy, I heard a story called Kingdom of Death. It was about a king who wanted to lead his mighty army to conquer the whole world. Somewhere far, they stumbled across a land that was very hostile, and the fog was so think that men couldn’t see their noses. They felt the sharp stones beneath them, but didn’t stop nonetheless. Somewhere in that darkness suddenly a voice would speak: “Whoever takes stones from this land, will regret, and who doesn’t take any, will also regret”. Some took the stones, while others didn’t bother to do so. When they finally get out of that kingdom of shadow, they realized that those were jewels and gems. The ones who took the stones regretted because they didn’t take enough, and the ones who didn’t take any regretted for they had nothing. At the end they all killed themselves in a fight for those gems.

Hobby Retrospective – Billboards

Hobby Retrospective – Billboards

Unfortunately due to some home renovations, my hobby loft has been more or less unbearable, and as such I haven’t accomplished nearly as much as I would have liked to these past few weeks. So, that means it’s time to poke through my photo archives for post fodder for another Hobby Retrospective!

20 Games with Tomb Kings: Tournament!

20 Games with Tomb Kings: Tournament!

Ok, so first things first. My list. The tournament had a 3 colour minimum and this shaped my list, due to the time I had to paint things up and what I already had painted. I also made some last minute changes that in the end I regretted, but this will become more apparent as we move along. 2200pts: Lords/Heroes: Tomb King- GOlden Mask, Armour of FOrtune, GW, Shield, Dragonbane Liche Priest (hiero) Lv 2 Talisman of Preservation Liche Priest (tk lore) Lv 2 Scroll, Ironcurse Prince GW, Shield (yes i know the shields are redundant, but I needed sorta WYSIWYG), Armour of Destiny Herald BSB Flaming Banner (the odd one out, I was sure that we would play a kill the BSB scenario… but we did not… so points wasted) Core: 41 Skeletons, HW/Sh Full Command 2 x 10 Archers with mus. 3 Chariots mus 5 Light Horse 29 Tomb Guard FC 3 Carrion Screaming Skull Colossus with xtra HW Casket I was confident that it was an ok list, and I was able to give battle to some very competitive builds. My lack of experience and generalship did show at times, but all this will come with time
