Finished the cleanup of the Tempest last night while watching a movie and after work today I braved the heat in the hobby loft to get the base blue on it! I’m thinking I’ll do yellow in three stripes from the turret collar to the edges of the hull, following the plating to define the rays. The underside, weapons and engines will get the bone color treatment and the various gems and cockpit windows will follow. It really is a quick and easy paint scheme I’m finding! Recently there was a bit of news about Feast of Blades 2013 coming up in October in Denver – I went last year as an observer and had a good time. They’re running a narrative drop in/drop out apocalypse game, so I’m thinking it may be fun to head down and throw down the Knights (imperial and eldar), the Tempest and the Baneblade, and the Leviathan command carrier!

Howdy all, Ian here, and still kicking around ideas for my final list for this year’s NOVA Open. The tournament is 1850, and I really want it to be the coming out party for the CSM army I have been working with on and off for the last 5 or 6 years. Originally just a Death Guard army, I added Red Corsairs last year, and am now considering fortifications and Daemon allies. Now, I have Daemons queued up for my Death Guard (I have several all Nurgle lists with all kinds of goodies, including Land Raiders, Mutilators, Spawn, Blight Drones etc), but I want to try out a minimized Daemon ally for a little fun gimmick I call the “Pocked Prescience Herald.” I’ll get into that in a moment, first, here’s the list: Now, I’d like to break down the different elements of the list: Rear Guard: Pocket Prescience Herald – At 45 points, the bog standard Herald of Tzeentch is a deceivingly good buy. At 45 points you get a model that shoots like a marine (BS 4), comes with a mastery level, and gets access to Divination. He also re-rolls failed saves of 1, so he is perfectly at home behind an Aegis Defense Line. This is actually the first list I've made that featured a fortification, I recently bought the Imperial Strongpoint, and now have 2 Bastions and 3 ADL's to distribute among my armies. So, I will plan to setup an objective or two behind my Aegis, and plop my 135 point

I’ve got a complete boner over Abaddon lately; this guy is the ultimate beat stick unit in 40k and I think is perhaps the best single close combat model in the entire game. To show why Abaddon is the Warmaster I think going to do some 1v1 challenges and test Abaddon’s mettle. Behold the Warmaster! Before Abaddon starts getting into scrapes lets see what Abaddon can do. Abaddon is a super charged S.M Captain and is basically

After seeing some of the Tablewar Dioramas via The Ebonstar on youtube I thought I was going to have to get some of them myself to try out. The first thing was that they generally only deal with people in the US so we had an experement to see how long they would take to arrive over here in Australia. So with that I waited around and 2 weeks later the package arrived. What I picked up was 3 of the trays with a selection of the rings going from 30mm to 50mm. Now I’ve got a few ideas that I wanted to do with these but first lets show you the first one I’ve been working on. To start with I assembled the metal base to the frame and placed some weight on it so the glue would take. Next was to arrange the rings where I wanted them (As always I forgot to take a picture of that) Next up I grabbed some Spakfilla when I was sent out to get some groceries for the wife as you can see below and then taped up the rings so I could fill the Spak everywhere that wasn’t covered. Even tho it said 30 minutes I left it over night and the next day added some small bits of cork to it for texture

From DoomedDiceThrower on Warseer: Lord of Skulls Triple Khorne’s sacred number is indeed its point cost. All directly battle revelant stats seem rather mediocre with 3’s and 4’s (except S which is 10 ofc). no 14’s in its armour rating. But it has 9 Hullpoints, and the rule “Fuelled by Rage”, which gives it +1A for every lost HP (keeping that even if the HP is repaired later) up to A: 10. “Tracked Behemoth”: It may not Stomp, but use the “Thunderblitz” table for Ramming and Tank Shock for Superheavy Vehicles. 3 Weapon points, the axe which can’t be exchanged (but has S: D !), one template weapon in the belly, one more conventional shooting arm-weapon. The belly-weapons names: – Gorestorm Cannon (Hellstorm template, MEQ killy high-S stat, standard loadout) – Deamongore Cannon (Gorestorm with higher strength, gets hot and Instant Death) – Ichor Cannon which is a large blast TEQ-killy weapon with slightly lower strength then the other options. Armweapons: – Hades Gatling cannon (standard loadout, 12 shots pinning version of what Forgefiends have) – SKULLHURLER (caption for actually hurling skulls, which is cheesesome) which is an apocalyptic Blast MEQ killy high-S weapon with good range, and special rule “Gnaw” forcing successful saves to reroll.

My buddy Dave over at Ex Fide Vivo scrounged around in his (also significant) hobby storage area and unearthed a few Eldar goodies which he donated to the cause – however he will no doubt regret such a magnanimous decision at some point in the future! We have a running joke about gifted units kicking the butts of the giver going back nearly twenty years, when I gave him an old War Walker which proceeded to ANNIHILATE my army in every game thereafter. much to our amusement! The big find was an old Armorcast Tempest that has been kicking around in a box for a decade or so. When Dave got the Tempest, it had already been through multiple owners and it had been, shall we say, extensively primered. So into a bucket of Simple Green it went. …That was three weeks ago. Stripping the paint proved to be an archaeological process – turns out the model had five coats of primer and paint on it. Green when Dave had it, apparently it had also been blue, red, orange and white over the course of its lifetime. I’d pull it out every couple days, give it a good scrub uncovering the next layer and then back into the dip it went. Eventually went through two gallons of Simple Green just to get it to what you see here! At this point after one last good soak in a fresh bucket all that’s left is the ‘scraping all the nooks and crannies’ step which as you can imagine is going to be a rather tedious process

Geez, almost two weeks…. Hey guys! Sorry for the lack of posts this time around, my boss was out of town last week, meaning I was running the store all week. I love my job, but that much time in a hobby shop means blogging was the last thing on my mind! This, however, doesn’t mean I didn’t get any painting done! Lets jump in, shall we? First up is everyone's favorite Catdog, Canis Wolfborn! This is the 3rd or 4th Canis I've painted, but I really wanted to go all out on this one. Sorry the pictures aren't better, I'll get really good ones when I'm taking final pictures of the commission.
