Eldar – Alaitoc it is! Wraithlord painted, and more work on the big guy

Eldar – Alaitoc it is! Wraithlord painted, and more work on the big guy

Had a nearly free Sunday today and settled in to do a test model for the craftworld I settled on – Alaitoc’s mottled blue and yellow has long been my favorite, but since it had been three years since I tried it, I decided I’d start off with the Wraithlord before I try scaling it up to the Wraithknight.

Dark Angels – Adepticon Army (v1) Painted!

Dark Angels – Adepticon Army (v1) Painted!

The final push happened last night and the 1850 list I’ve been working towards has been completed! I still need to take shots of a few of the individual units (assault marines and vindicator), but I did snap a few pics of the army laid out on the (admittedly boring) display board: So far so good! 16 terminators, 21 marines and 10 scouts, a Vindicator and the Nephilim. Not bad for a month’s worth of work…

First game of 2013!

First game of 2013!

I hope everyone had a safe and happy New Years! It was quite nice to have a day off yesterday, and my friend Dave and I got in a game of 40k. I didn’t do a full battle report, but did snap a few pics here and there throughout the game. I wanted to try out a new 1850 variant I’m considering for Adepticon, and Dave ran his ever-frightening Blood Angel assault list. As a break from my usual heavy downtown urban themed table I went with a small starport sort of thing. I’d picked up a spaceship-looking kitbash model off of eBay recently and wanted to put it on the table to see if it would work. It’s a little large and blocked a bit too much of the line of sight across the table, so it’ll probably get regulated to Necromunda terrain. We ended up playing lengthwise across the table, which theoretically sounds good for my gunline guard, but as usual the marines were in their faces almost immediately. The Blood Angel’s Stormraven and the Mordian 7th’s Vendetta circled the table (and each other) merrily gunning down the troops and tanks below. The game itself was thoroughly bloody

The Praetorian Project – Leviathan side sponsons built

The Praetorian Project – Leviathan side sponsons built

Finally got a set of side sponson towers that I like sorted out, and snapped a few pics. This was the last bit that really needed to be made before it really looks like a Leviathan! They’re not quite perfect fits, but they’re by far the closest I’ve been able to manage thus far. Close enough to be able to fill the gaps, at least. I was determined to utilize the small turrets that I picked up from Blood and Skulls Industry, and that required a somewhat complicated shape full of compound angles.

Adeptus Mechanicus – Loyalist and Traitor Arch Magos in progress

Adeptus Mechanicus – Loyalist and Traitor Arch Magos in progress

The order from Blight Wheel miniatures showed up late last week and I dove in with a frenzy of building and kit-bashing. Unfortunately I neglected to take any pictures until after I’d already primered them, and black-spraypainted models don’t make for good pics. I was finally able to steal a little time to lay down some of the base colors over the last couple days and snap a few pics yesterday afternoon.

Heresy Era Thousand Sons – Spartan painting in progress

Heresy Era Thousand Sons – Spartan painting in progress

First off, let me start by saying that it’s 2/1/12 (at least for my American readers), and as such I would be remiss if I didn’t suggest listening to the linked song today ! For those of you across the pond, I suppose I should have mentioned it on the 2nd of January! Heh. With that out of the way, I thought I’d put up a few pics of the Land Raider Spartan, now that I’ve managed to get some paint on it. All in all it’s coming along fairly well – I’m pleased with the look even though it is quite obviously a scratchbuild. Side by side with a ‘real’ Mk.I Land Raider the differences are rather obvious, but I’m hoping I can downplay some of the more obvious shortcomings in the painting process. One thing I have noticed is the paint tone is quite different between the two tanks which I imagine is partially due to the cardstock nature of the Spartan. I’m going to have to give it a second wash of Baal Red in hopes of darkening it down a bit. The mix of old style construction and new-era bits does at least tie the two tanks together thematically, I’m fairly pleased with how that’s come along so far. Still a fair bit of painting to go of course! As the spartan is going to be the transport for one of the legion tactical squads I went with the big arrow on the top hatch (as I’m doing something similar with the Rhinos). Overall the spartan is quite a bit longer than the base Mk

I/C Challenge Update: Rounds 1 & 2

I/C Challenge Update: Rounds 1 & 2

After seeing Mags update yesterday, it occurred to me that I haven’t provided an update on my own progress in awhile (I Know… I Know.. I’m a Follower…. If you need to catch up, go here ) Anyway, I’ve had a little more success than Mags up to this point.. I completed Round 1 in Style and here are a few pics of the knockout… Here is a pic of Inquisitor #1 with his 3 Servo Skulls. Inquisitor #2 with his Servo Skulls I would not consider myself a “painter” or an “artist” but I put a TON of work into these guys and am really happy with the way they turned out. I plan on going back to touch up a few things down the road but for right now they are TableTop War ready!!! Sadly Round 2 was utter fail. I only had 6 models on the agenda for the whole month; a Draigo Counts-As & a squad of 5 Paladins. Sadly, none of them went beyond the initial assembly stage.

The Bay Area Open GT

The Bay Area Open GT

The above pic is my vote for most gutsy player, Necrons in a Zero-comp event! The GT is over and I am absolutely beat, who knew that just taking pictures could be so exhausting! Reece and the rest of Team Zero Comp put on an outstanding event, congrats guys and gals! There were tournaments for 40K, WFB and Warmachine. I will be covering some of the 40k stuff here. The tables were really good for the most part, a few were a little sparse but even at that better than most Tourneys I have ever been too. What was really awesome is that for the event being a tournament, everyone was extremely friendly and all around great guys. I am gonna go out on a limb here and say that I think it was the whole zero army composition and strait win loss scoring style of the event. Top three were Winners for 40k were: Imperial Guard Mechanized – the undefeated champion. Battlewagon Orks – 2nd Place Paladin GK – 3rd Place. I will do a few more posts about this before the week is done. I have tons of Photo editing to do catch y’all later! Here are a few pics to tied you over

The Long Fangs

The Long Fangs

Hi one and all, I have just finished modeling my first Long Fang Pack and I have decided to post up a few pics. I planned on building up a second LF pack in the future and they will have all the same pack markings. Why? Well because it will allow me to try out different weapon load-outs and tailor-make the LF against the army I’m fighting or the mission at hand. I current have built up two missile launchers, two heavy bolters, and one lascannon.
