Apocalypse Rules Leaking!

From FodaBett on the Apocalypse40K Forums .
With the Tau release under two weeks away I’m getting pretty excited. I’m aware that’s pretty sad for a nearly 29 year old but then you guys are reading a 40K blog so … meh. Anyway, the new pictures show us a much better perpsective of the broadside and the new flyers. Broadsides The broadsides are rumoured to be downgraded to S8 AP1. However, the latest pic seems to show the broadside holding a rather large railgun that to me doesn’t look twin-linked. Perhaps they can still take the S10 AP1 version but lose twin-linkage in the process? Eitherway the model looks awesome and a lot bulkier than it’s predecessor. It’s certainly on a bigger base! The question is will anyone replace their existing models with one?
I’ve had some bits and pieces arrive for the fimir project in the last couple of weeks, which gives me the components I need to assemble some more of the units. I’m still painting unit fillers, so in the meantime I’ve been mocking up some new models. Some very old school chaos warhounds for my two hounds units. I originally used Warlord Games Celt mastiffs, but in the end they proved too small, so these guys were my next port of call. Some of them are mutated, but I’ve worked that into the background, so all is well. They look a lot better than the mastiffs, and I need only one more dog to have two units worth. I’ve given both units a handler to make them a little more interesting. Three more bile worms from Gribbly Miniatures gives me enough to field a unit of four Marlwyrms (count as skullcrushers). The are still riderless, but you can see one mock-up I did for a rider below
As I've discussed in a previous post, characters are one of the big changes in 6th edition. I've talked already about challenges and how they'll affect the lists that we write but sniping might have an impact too.
Let’s clear something up straight away. In this case when I say “tank” I don’t mean your rhinos, hammerheads, predators etc. Instead I’m talking about a video-gaming concept from MMORPGs. For those of you not familiar with this concept the idea is that someone builds their character so that it’s primary function is to soak up damage from enemies to protect other units. Though they might not have much offensive ability they can free up points so that other units can spend them on offensive capability. So how does this apply to 40K? Well before 6th edition it didn’t. However, the 6th edition rules have changed wound allocation in such a way as this is now possible. Couple in the “Look Out Sir” rules and there’s your tank. The units that will benefit most from this are those static gun-line portions of your army
Been a while since I posted a battle report but I've finally got some time on my hands and had some pictures of my last FOW match to post.
GW appears to have fired us another curveball this month, in the form of new plastic and finecast models for the beasts of chaos. It’s great to see the Cygor, Ghorgon and Jabberslythe finally get models from GW. The plastic kit, I’m guessing Cygor/Ghorgon looks good, at first glance the Ghorgon option looks a lot better than the Cygor, which looks slightly awkward to me, but I’ll hold final judgement until I see it in the flesh. There looks to be loads of bits on this kit, perpare for an avalanche of converted chaos giants. That is, if anyone used them, though I can plenty of parts for a siege giant for my chaos dwarves in this kit. The Jabberslythe looks great, but I wish it was plastic. It’s really anyone’s guess with GW these days, isn’t it? Thanks to Fields of Blood for the image.
Yes I know that title sounds bizarre but just hear me out first. Lets take your simple Tactical Marine who has a bolter, bolt pistol, grenades and more importantly a single attack.
Here’s the last member of the first rank, the standard bearer. He’s not totally finished, he needs some facial work to add a scar and perhaps lose a tooth, and a couple of small touches to his ragged hood. The tail on this one was more problematic, as the rear of the body has a mail loincloth. There was a handy space where the tail could sneak out the side though, also helping with ranking. I’m waiting on some more bases from Microart Studios before I can get into the next rank, so I may start on the larger Fimir in the meantime. This is a shot of all the fimir assembled so far. You can see a Bloodmoon bog raider at the back there too, who I’ll sprinkle throughout the unit for some variety. With 25% of the first unit assembled, (I’ve a fifth fimir painted ) I’m feeling a lot better about this project.
