My beef with Chaos Daemons

My beef with Chaos Daemons

I have been upset with the Chaos Daemons codex since the book hit the shelves back in March. Yup I was one of those who spammed Flamers and Screamers and those units getting nerfed was well deserved, but they didn’t need to be hit that hard. Though this was one of the many problems with Chaos Daemons. Random is Random I know it is in the nature of fluff of Chaos Daemons to be random, but I really cannot be dealing with it. I find it makes games a lot more long winded as you have to make note of the random gifts you roll for and also random psychic powers – that’s two things randomly rolled for. I know you can remember the abilities easy enough, but when learning lists it makes it tough as you need to remember what model has what. I know you can just write them down on some paper etc, but I do not want bits of paper and other bits floating about while I am trying to play toy soldiers. It’s just another thing you have to remember about and it isn’t second nature like other 40k rules. Lets get ready to suuuuuuuuuuuccccccccccccccccccck it Because that’s exactly what the troops do; suck donkey big. All of the troops blow goats.

New Eldar Codex Unit Choices – Elites

New Eldar Codex Unit Choices – Elites

Onto the Elites section then. There’s 6 units to cover here and with the exception of the Harlequins they can all take a Wave Serpent which as I’ve already discussed is pretty deadly. Howling Banshees Always pretty weak in the old codex, Howling Banshees may be slightly cheaper but they’re still a waste of points in my opinion. On the face of it some fast moving I5 power weapons seem great but with S3 and Doom being less likely they’re perhaps slightly weaker than they were before. With only a 4+ save they really suffer from not having an assault vehicle and for that reason they won’t leave the shelf. Striking Scorpions Whilst still an assault unit in a shooty world, Striking Scorpions have a couple of benefits over their female cousins. Firstly their S4 which means they don’t rely on Doom so much. They also gain an extra S3 attack at I10 thanks to mandiblasters. Granted this isn’t as good as the extra S4 attack they used to get but it’s at I10 so against some opponents it’s better. The other advantage they have over the banshees is that they carry grenades.

Deny the Witch: a question

Deny the Witch: a question

Question: The rules for deny the witch allow a model a save against a psychic power that targets them. Does this apply for a shooting attack?

Tactica: Tyranid Tervigon – worth it?

Tactica: Tyranid Tervigon – worth it?

When playing a game of 40k I always assess how well a unit has done in game and if it’s any good for my army. Some units I ponder about long and hard going uhm and har, one of those units is the Tervigon. Now I bet some people think I’m batshit crazy for even coming up with such a question in the first place, but I think it’s worth thinking about. So it’s time to dissect the Tervigon and look truly what it is and what it can do. The Tervigon costs a base cost of 160 points which you get a decent stat line form in monstrous creature form, best bit is 6 wounds. It’s not that awesome in combat, but it can do some damage. It’s also a synapse creature so gets the usual goodies for that (shadow in the warp) and as we all know can spawn free Termagants on a 3D6. That’s the basics. The Tervigon is a massive beneficial unit to the Tyranid army. It’s not a solo flying unit say like the Carnifex, the Tervigon actually supports and buffs units of the army.

Assassins For the Upcoming GK Book…

Assassins For the Upcoming GK Book…

With the Grey Knights book coming up soon tons of info is coming out about the books. Most has been covered by other websited so we have been trying to keep it to a minimum here at Warmonger but one thing I have seen made me feel all giddy inside. I saw some post on the assassins and I had to share it with you guys. It seems that the assassins will take up an elite slot in the force organization slot and they will have the following characteristics.
