A time for Everything

A time for Everything

It has been a fantastic journey, with everyone here on Galaxy in Flames, I appreciate all the support I have gotten from the community over the last 4 years. Plus all the fantastic friends I have made through the blog as well. I have outgrown what I have always had as a focus of GiF, which was a 40k focus. I am not quitting 40k at all, but I am branching back out into other genres of Wargaming that just don’t fit the focus of this blog. I really feel it is time to get back to my roots in wargaming and stop solely focusing for the most part on a singular game genre. Basically I need a blog that I can share all the wargaming I do, without making those looking for 40k content only have to suffer through. That way if you follow me to the new blog, you know what you are getting into. I will be blogging about Killzone, Flames of War, Warzone Resurrection, Grunts 15mm Sci-fi, LotR, Muskets and Tomahawks (French Indian War skirimish), 40k and much, much more. I will be launching the new blog in the next week or so and annoucing it here for you to follow me over if you are interested. I will also be updating Killzone in June as well.

The Alpha Legiondary Journey Part 1: Goal, Concept and Evaluating Codex: CSM

The Alpha Legiondary Journey Part 1: Goal, Concept and Evaluating Codex: CSM

Welcome to ” The Alpha Legiondary Journey ” series, which is going to be my way of communicating, sharing and brainstorming with you – the blogosphere and wargaming community – as I slowly create a 2,000 points Alpha Legion-themed list to be used with the Warhammer 40,000 6th Edition ruleset. Originally I was thinking of calling this segment ” Alpha Legioning it Up “, but I’m pretty sure the fact that English is not my native tongue isn’t the only reason why this title is unpronounceable. Yeesh. My name is Skarvald the Troll-faced and I will be your host. Haha. Let’s start with the foundation of what “The Alpha Legiondary Journey” is trying to accomplish: GOAL:

Whoah!

Whoah!

Howdy Interwebs! Now that’s some pretty considerable down time, even by our standards. GDMNW has always been a relatively quiet blog, at least compared to the big guns of our part of the Blogosphere ( 3++ , Faeit 212 , Colonel Schofer , YTTH and of course the ever huge BOLS ) but this is something special. Now that we’re back we’d like to start out thanking the many of you who stop by from time to time to see if anything’s changed. Our apologies for the site’s inertia over the last few months. Some of Games Workshop’s releases really weren’t that exciting, and despite the anticipation of the Dark Angel codex and the excitement that surrounded the release of sixth edition some of the magic just wasn’t there. Or rather here. Rather than rushing out to buy new miniatures we found ourselves bagging up some of our half finished projects to sell on eBay and elsewhere. I’m sure my local gaming club, the excellent Cross Gaming Club, think my throat has been cut. The masterful minusT has painted a new GDMNW.com marine for us and we’ve not so much as made a move to collect the thing

E-Mail: Iron Warriors Test List

E-Mail: Iron Warriors Test List

Hey Mercer, Don’t know if you remember me. I sent you a question about the necron command barge. I’m one of those “ninja” readers who read your blog quite often but rarely leave any comments. Sorry for that. Well, this time I’m thinking about an Iron Warriors “almost fluffy” list. I mean, I like Iron Warriors a lot (in fact that’s the reason I started reading your blog) and I like fluffy armies but I’m not doing it completely fluffy because I understand that there are better tactical options sometimes (specially with those Nurgle Obliterators!). I would like you and the community to have a look at my list and give me some thoughts, and by the way ask your opinions about some matters regarding the CSM Codex. Before getting to the list let me tell you something: I don’t like MSU very much. I know that probably is more versatile but I don’t like so many and so small units.

Talking About Ratlings

Talking About Ratlings

The current iteration of Ratlings in Warhammer 40,000. Nice models I guess, but way too Sam Gamgee for my liking. Today I’m going to return to Warhammer 40,00 and talk a little about a subject near-ish to my heart (maybe somewhere in the vicinity of the pancreas) – Ratlings.

New 40K blogosphere Service Coming Soon

New 40K blogosphere Service Coming Soon

Hey Warhammer 40K fans, I’d like to share some info with guys about a new website project I’m working on -and it’s pretty big. Really big infact. Now I’m a big fan of the 40K blogosphere and personally I prefer following the blogs to trawling through the forums. Only problem is, I’ve found myself struggling to find the good stuff this year and it’s for 2 reasons. 1) From The Warp stopped being the hub of 40K blogging I used to be able to find loads of great stuff on From The Warp’s blogrolls from really obscure little blogs, but very talented bloggers non the less. I understand that all these blogrolls became too much for From The Warp to manage. 2) Bell of Lost Souls changed how they manage their blogrolls One upon a time everyone and his dog could get on the BoLS blogroll. Then after a couple of overhauls, only the small blogs that don’t post very often were allowed on the blogroll, while only the big sites were allowed on the Elite Blogroll, provided you wrote content for BoLS of course. And that kind of screws over all the medium blogs in the middle and kind of holds the bigger blogs to ransom
