Did the Land Raider Achilles foreshadow the new Hull Points system?

Did the Land Raider Achilles foreshadow the new Hull Points system?

This has been bothering me ever since 6th edition came out. No, actually.. even before that – when the first “concrete” rumors and leaks flooded the blogosphere. Before I added the side sponsons.. which were a PAIN to build. So.. was the Land Raider Achilles an early sign for the Hull Points system – perhaps one of the biggest changes brought to us by 6th Edition? I think so. But let me clarify the actual fact of the matter here: Here are the early “Experimental Rules” of the Land Raider Achilles , as posted on the Forge World website as soon as the Land Raider Achilles was announced. Notice, for example, the original point cost of 300 points (compared to the actual, current point cost of 325 points.) “..

Warhammer Forge – Monstrous Arcanum

Warhammer Forge – Monstrous Arcanum

Warhammer Forge’s Monstrous Arcanum is out on the 10th of April. I’ve been looking forward to this book for some time, and there are 32 new monsters in here. It’s a 113 page, full-colour hardback book, and the images of the inside look every bit as sumptuous as Tamurkhan, so I’ll be snagging a copy as soon as possible. The new fimir warriors are in there too, I’ll be interested to see if their rules have altered much from the experimental rules already published. The one paragraph that has me very interested is this: These are not limited to just Storm of Magic games, however, as the book contains nine scenarios and special rules to allow these deadly creatures to be fielded in regular Warhammer battles, and a helpful appendix chart to allow you to theme your monsters to your army.

New Warhammer 40k Expansion From Forge World – Zone Mortalis

New Warhammer 40k Expansion From Forge World – Zone Mortalis

It looks like Forge World is putting out a mini Warhammer 40k Expansion – Zone Mortalis. This new expansion deals with ship boardings and close combat fighting. There aren’t any pictures up yet, but they are releasing a set of Realm of Battle terrain that is going to be corridor based. The set is 98 British Pounds and will come with four 1×1 sections. It looks like you would need 6 of these sets to fill a normal sized game board. The set is up at the Forge World sight and the experimental rules are available for download. I have skimmed over the rules and it feels like Space Hulk on steroids. I can’t wait to see what this terrain looks like and I am also looking forward to digging into the rules a bit more, this might just make for some fun short term campaign play like Mordheim.
