Fimir – What’s on the Table

Fimir – What’s on the Table

Just a quick post to reiterate that the fimir are still very much in progress, in case anyone was worried what with all the genestealer cult talk lately… At the moment I’m just finishing the last of the half dead. I have some basing to finish, and then they’re done! I’m very happy with them, and I’m looking forward to popping their cherry on the tabletop. Just hitting the painting table are the first of the marlwyrm monstrous cavalry. I’m considering how to paint the shields of the fimir riders. Some of the results of the verdigris effects I tried on the half dead should work great on the detail on the shields, which are from Scibor. I also have some drool techniques using various plastic glues to test before I apply them to the maw of the wyrms. Fun times!

Beneath Lucius’ Mask

Beneath Lucius’ Mask

Well it’s been a while since I’ve had the chance to update here and let alone take photos of my figures I’ve been working on. So first off no I haven’t died off… I’ve been busy with numerous figures and took out a little 4 man tournament since there were about 6 cancellations the night before which wasn’t fun to find out when we all got there. I did manage to take out the tournament playing a Zoraida/Collodi crew and it only came out to about 1 point different between myself and another Henchmen, Tiny. Even when we had our game together we came out with a 2 all draw so it will be interesting how things go at the end one. That being said I’ve realised that one of the hardest match ups I had of the day was him with his Nicodem Growth list which ended up having 3 Flesh Constructs, The Dead Rider and Rafkin on the board. As I found out Zoraida can do nothing against the Dead Rider but I managed to get the Voodoo Doll in to the fight and cast Repel to push her out of range since the immune to Influence on the Rider was making her useless. But after that’s been said I’ve painted 2 of the Effigies which if you follow me on twitter or the #malifaux hash tag you may have seen them but that’s not what I have for today… An age ago when getting together the extended Dead Justice Crew I added some Dead Guild Guard, Executioner and also posted some photos of the unpainted ‘Behind the Mask’ Lucius. Well I finally got around to painting him as you can see below. He was an easy conversion with a head swap with a Coppelius and some slight Greenstuffing. So on with the Painting Table Mobile Phone shots… Click on the images for larger images

…but still painting. It seems the painting table is an ever-changing plethora. These three warlocks are the last of the seer council, but now that I have finished these, I want to go back and touch up the others. D’oh, as they say. magic dudes……magic dudes…..burn you with magic dudes….. and purple too! This guy is very serious about stuff… I bet the fur keeps him warm. Same pose, real hand! With a cape! Until next post, thanks for the look!

Dark Eldar Kabalite Warriors

Dark Eldar Kabalite Warriors

Right on time. Everything went as scheduled, completed my last 5 more Dark Eldar Kabalite Warriors. This forms my first squad of 10 Dark Eldar Kabalite Warriors. Next project for the Dark Eldar would be the Raider. Been a long while since I painted any vehicles. For the Dark Eldar colours and tutorial, see my earlier post . The painting experience for my Dark Eldar Kabalite Warriors was indeed an exciting and fun one. I particularly like to paint the Turquoise armour streaks, blending and mixing all so exciting. The Sybarite was a fun paint job, especially painting the agoniser, I can imagine the pain when it lands on its victim… ouch! As the Dark Eldar Kabalite Warriors looked so awesome and “painful”, I took some shots of them in the Cities of Death

I was thinking having a game of 40k with the Dark Eldar in the Cities of Death would be fun.

Fimir – Hooded Fimir Champion Assembled

Fimir – Hooded Fimir Champion Assembled

Here’s the assembled fimm. The tail worked out better than I expected, it fit as if made for the task, right in the savage orc’s naked ass. Also, I have to say, I love how the arms fit the shoulders, it’s a great solution to multi-part models with no cloth or armour to hide the join. I had a bit of trouble picking the left-hand weapon. I went through about six hands, and finally settled on the small shield, which doesn’t upset the pose as much as the second hand weapon I was going to use. A little filing, and he’s onto the painting table!
