This has been bothering me ever since 6th edition came out. No, actually.. even before that – when the first “concrete” rumors and leaks flooded the blogosphere. Before I added the side sponsons.. which were a PAIN to build. So.. was the Land Raider Achilles an early sign for the Hull Points system – perhaps one of the biggest changes brought to us by 6th Edition? I think so. But let me clarify the actual fact of the matter here: Here are the early “Experimental Rules” of the Land Raider Achilles , as posted on the Forge World website as soon as the Land Raider Achilles was announced. Notice, for example, the original point cost of 300 points (compared to the actual, current point cost of 325 points.) “..
Hey guys! So the internet is abuzz with the immanent release of Warhammer 40,000 6th Edition! I, for one, am pumped at all the newest rumors and pictures. Loving the idea of Pyromancy on my Nurgle Daemon Princes and Chaos Daemons allied with my Alpha Legion! Anyways, just a quick update today, as I sat down and got the bases ready for the Giant Chaos Spawn. That’s right: bases! They’re magnetized for both 40k and Fantasy, making the model usable as both the Giant Chaos Spawn in Imperial Armour Apocalypse Second Edition or the Giant Spawn in the Storm of Chaos book! I’ll get some better pictures of the work on him so far tomorrow. He’s getting pretty creepy, from the horrible pustules on his skin to the vericose veins and cataracts. Also, I’m running the local 40k tournament on Sunday at Durango Game Space, so anyone in the Durango area on Sunday, come on in and play some Combat Patrol! Here’s a link to the event: First Shots: A Warhammer 40,000 Combat Patrol Event.
So, if you pick up Imperial Armour Apocalypse Second Edition, and you go to page 28, you find the humble Contemptor Mortis Pattern Dreadnought.
Well, it seems like you have to do a review of the past year and then talk about he future.
Well, just in time for Christmas (or not actually), Forgeworld has released two more great tanks. Macharius Omega From Forgeworld: While the sins of innovation and initiative are frowned upon by the Adeptus Mechanicus, new patterns and designs of weapons and armoured vehicles are still created. The Macharius Omega is one such vehicle, created with a single focus, that of the battlefield deployment of the Omega Pattern Plasma Blastgun. The STC for this weapon was originally discovered by Explorator-Magus Hum’nal in late M39, but a Mechanicus schism over the purity and completeness of its template delayed the testing and eventual deployment of the Omega pattern weapon for centuries. The Macharius Omega, designed by Stuart Williamson , is an extremely detailed full resin kit featuring some incredible interior detail. This open-topped super-heavy tank also includes two unique crew figures: a Cadian gunner and a calculus-servitor. This mighty war machine is available to pre-order now for release in the week commencing 6th January, and full rules for using the Macharius Omega in games of Apocalypse can be found in Imperial Armour Apocalypse Second Edition . Deimos Pattern Predator
New from Forgeworld : The Dark Eldar Tantalus First crafted, so it is said, for the Archon Surasis Grief of the Kabal of the Dark Mirror, the Dark Eldar Tantalus is an assault skimmer, somewhat larger and more complex in design than the Raider, and accordingly better armed. Its distinctive twin-hulled design houses powerful engine-reactors slaved to enhanced drives and its unique scythevane armament. One of the largest Dark Eldar vehicles yet encountered by the Imperial war machine, the cruel reavers who crew this sleek engine of destruction take delight in mounting high-speed attacks, slicing through the hulls of enemy vehicles and rending infantry into crimson shreds, heralded by the screech of the molecular dissonance fields of its scythevanes and the rapid fire of its pulse-disintegrator armament. The Tantalus, designed by Daren Parrwood , is a detailed full resin kit that includes a set of etched brass deck panels. Measuring nearly 11” from prow to stern, this twin-hulled vehicle is a great addition to any Dark Eldar army. With its full rules contained within Imperial Armour Apocalypse Second Edition .
There are many great boardgames out there that we all love and play. But sometimes those games, after years of play need to be remade, so they can better suit the players and the fans. FFG decided to bring back a couple of these boardgames for us to enjoy. They listen to what their gamers have to say and using that info they change and adapt the games. So recently, FFG announced three new remakes of very interesting games: Wiz-War , Nexus Ops and Descent: Journeys in the Dark . These remakes or second editions will bring the games to a new light with updated content and rules, and it will make them much more enjoyable for players everywhere. Wiz-War is a game of magical duels and battling wizards. It is a game that was first created in 1983! The object of the game is to blast the enemy wizards into oblivion or steal their treasure and leave them with nothing. It is a competitive game playable by 2 to 4 players
