Battle Report: Eldar vs Blood Angels – 2,000 points

Battle Report: Eldar vs Blood Angels – 2,000 points

I decided to give Eldar a whirl yesterday against Rich and his Blood Angels. I’ve got a list in mind which I am interested to see if works before I start shelling the cash. I used to play Eldar back in 5th, and now I’ve made up my mind that fast and shooty is my play style I think I’ll enjoy them more than ever 🙂 No pics I am afriad as proxy mayhem while both of us are testing lists; sorry, amigos. Eldar – 2,000 points HQ Farseer – eldar jetbike & mantle of the laughing god Spiritseer Troops 5 x Wraithguard w/ Wave Serpent – Serpent w/ twin-linked scatter lasers & holofield 5 x Wraithguard w/ Wave Serpent – Serpent w/ twin-linked scatter lasers & holofield 5 x Dire Avengers w/ Wave Serpent – Serpent w/ twin-linked scatter lasers & holofield 5 x Dire Avengers w/ Wave Serpent – Serpent w/ twin-linked scatter lasers & holofield 5 x Dire Avengers w/ Wave Serpent – Serpent w/ twin-linked scatter lasers & holofield 3 x Windrider Jetbikes Fast Attack Vyper – shuriken cannon Vyper – shuriken cannon Heavy Support 2 x War Walkers – 4 x scatter lasers 2 x War Walkers – 4 x scatter lasers 2 x War Walkers – 4 x brightlances Blood Angels – 2,000 points HQ Gabriel Seth Reclusiarch – jump pack Elite 2 x Sanguinary Priests – jump packs 7 x Sternguard Veterans w/ Rhino Troops 5 x Assault Marines w/ Razorback – meltagun 5 x Assault Marines w/ Razorback – meltagun 5 x Assault Marines w/ Razorback – flamer 10 x Assault Marines – 2 x meltaguns – sgt w/ lightning claw 10 x Assault Marines – 2 x meltaguns – sgt w/ lightning claw Heavy Support 5 x Devastators – 4 x missile launchers 5 x Devastators – 4 x missile launchers Fortifications Aegis Defence Line – quad gun Aegis Defence Line – quad gun Game: we’re playing a custom mission which I wrote which is centre about a volcanic planet. The mission has special rules which units in terrain roll a D6 and result of a 1 that model takes an initiative test, if fails then dies. Also at the start of the turn roll a D6 for every unit, if a 6+ is rolled then that unit is hit by D6 S8 AP3 volanic debris. Deployment was short edged tables 12″ from the edge and mission was whoever holds the most table quarters. Deployment I won the roll off and took the short edge to my right. Rich dropped his ADLs spread across his deployment zone. I deployed first placing Lance Walkers on the left flank (on my long table edge), then in the centre behind a ruin all other units while the two Vypers took refuge behind a ruin on the right flank

That funky FAQ question…

That funky FAQ question…

Yeah, this one: Q: When making a Shooting attack against a unit, can Wounds from the Wound Pool be allocated to models that were not within range any of the shooting models when To Hit rolls were made (i.e. half the targeted model are in the shooting models’ range, and half are not)? (p15) A: No The above ruling is creating quite a stir among 40k players at the moment. I am not sure if ruling is the right word as this rule has never existed in the last 40k rules editions and why was it shoe horned in now? On P16 under the ‘Out of Range’ header the rules say the opposite, basically it says if a model was in range when rolling to hit was made, then the model is considered in range for the duration of the shooting attack even if removal of causalities means the closest model is now out of range. Then you get the above in the recent FAQ. At first glance it tells you the opposite; if a model is out of range when rolling to hit then wounds cannot be allocated to it. Having a more indepth look you see this rule is a load of bollocks. Firstly it has added something which has never existed. Then it has changed what is said in the rulebook and thirdly it doesn’t even make sense! The word ‘of’ is missing between range and any and the word ‘model’ after targeted should be models.

Battle Report: Necrons vs Dark Angels – 2,000 points

Battle Report: Necrons vs Dark Angels – 2,000 points

Ventured down to the Vine Inn Gamers last night and played against Tom. Tom is using Deathwing and has asked me if he can use Forge World models Mortis Dreadnought and Achilles Land Raider, which because I am such a sport I had no beef with him doing so. Tom didn’t bring the Achilles, but he packed the two Mortis’. Necrons ‘Necro-Wall’ – 2,000 points HQ Necron Overlord w/ Catacomb Command Barge – warscythe & mindshackle scarabs Royal Court – 3 x Crypteks w/ 3 x harbinger of destruction & solar pulse Necron Overlord w/ Catacomb Command Barge – warscythe & mindshackle scarabs Royal Court – 3 x Crypteks w/ 3 x harbinger of destruction & solar pulse Troops 5 x Necron Warriors w/ Ghost Ark 5 x Necron Warriors w/ Ghost Ark 5 x Necron Warriors w/ Ghost Ark 5 x Necron Warriors Fast Attack 6 x Canoptek Wraiths – 3 x whip coils 6 x Canoptek Wraiths – 3 x whip coils Heavy Support Annihilation Barge Annihilation Barge Annihilation Barge Dark Angels ‘Deathwing’ – 2,000 points HQ Belial Company Command Squad – 3 x thunder hammers & storm shields, 2 x lightning claws, company standard & cyclone missile launcher Intreograter Chaplain Elite Mortis Dreadnought Mortis Dreadnought Troops 5 x Terminators – 5 x thunder hammers & storm shields + cyclone missile launcher 5 x Terminators – assault cannon 5 x Terminators – assault cannon 5 x Terminators – heavy flamer Heavy Support Vindicator Vindicator Game: Purge the Xeno + Vanguard Strike – night fighting is active Deployment Tom won the roll off for choosing table side and deployment, he let me go first, which I guess suits us both as I am medium ranged and Tom is majority close combat. I deploy bottom left corner and put my Wraiths out front, then the Ghost Arks in a line with the ABs and CCBs behind; the CCBs are on each flank. Like a wally I forget to deploy the unit of 5 Warriors who are on foot and I only remembered about this when writing the report! Tom deploys top right corner, he has his Vindicators back along with the Dreadnoughts. At the front is the Command Squad with Belial and the Chaplain, and then both the assault cannon units. Strangely the heavy flamer unit is at the back, this unit should have been at the front to get the heavy flamer in range (or deep strike). * Tactical Notes Ok, Deathwing, they are always fun to play against as it’s a race against time

A test game between the Rhino-Rush CSM list and GK Purifiers. Both lists are pretty much the same; multiple Rhinos and standing long range shooting units. Battle Report: Daemons vs Dark Eldar – 1,250

Battle Report: Daemons vs Dark Eldar – 1,250

Poddy has finally got his arse back into gear and is getting back into 40k. This is his second game after a several month break, which he started just before 6th arrived. I am using my Daemons as I think they will be a good match up for D.E. All the D.E poison really worries me as Poddy has the ability to remove squads with several salvos. The Daemons on the other hand can hit hard if things go right. If they do, then Poddy is going to be in hot water. Daemons
