40k 6th ed codex builds

40k 6th ed codex builds

At the current time of writing this post there are five 6th ed codices; Chaos Space Marines, Dark Angels, Chaos Daemons, Tau and Eldar – Eldar is the newest book on the block. The codices in 5th ed tend to have limited builds and in some cases become even more limited thanks to the changes 6th ed brought. Take Blood Angels for example, in 5th ed the book could give you a jumper, Dreadnought and Razorback list. Now in 6th ed only jumpers is truly viable and that then is still a weak list compared to others. Dark Eldar is another example which previously gave you venom spam, raider spam, webway portal, Hellion swarm and wych cult to name a few. Now venom spam is the most competitive build as 6th lists are turning to infantry or hybrid lists and venoms excel at destroying infantry. Now the 6th ed codices are rocking about how many builds can you get from each one? Can they offer as many builds as the 5th ed codices offered in their prime? Chaos Space Marines CSM was the first 6th ed codex to hit after 6th ed rulebook landed and set the way for all following codices. In MY

My beef with Chaos Daemons

My beef with Chaos Daemons

I have been upset with the Chaos Daemons codex since the book hit the shelves back in March. Yup I was one of those who spammed Flamers and Screamers and those units getting nerfed was well deserved, but they didn’t need to be hit that hard. Though this was one of the many problems with Chaos Daemons. Random is Random I know it is in the nature of fluff of Chaos Daemons to be random, but I really cannot be dealing with it. I find it makes games a lot more long winded as you have to make note of the random gifts you roll for and also random psychic powers – that’s two things randomly rolled for. I know you can remember the abilities easy enough, but when learning lists it makes it tough as you need to remember what model has what. I know you can just write them down on some paper etc, but I do not want bits of paper and other bits floating about while I am trying to play toy soldiers. It’s just another thing you have to remember about and it isn’t second nature like other 40k rules. Lets get ready to suuuuuuuuuuuccccccccccccccccccck it Because that’s exactly what the troops do; suck donkey big. All of the troops blow goats.

Army Lists: Daemons ‘Kinky Magic’ – 2,000 points

Army Lists: Daemons ‘Kinky Magic’ – 2,000 points

Chaos Daemons have taken a more horde approach now and horde armies is an army style I cannot get on with; too many models to move around and you need cover to survive but also cover can cause issues such as bottleneck and just moving throuh terrain slowly. I remember when I used to play Kan Wall it took me like all game for a unit of Boyz to move through terrain as the rolls were low, when they did make it into combat only a few of them actually were in range and only a few managed to attack, they lost combat 🙁 Now, big monsters is what I do like. Bonus is you do not have a billion models to paint and because you do not have many models you can put some extra effort into painting the big ass gribblies. So for a Chaos Daemons list I am going to make a monster mash, this list will go the name of Kinky Magic as most the units will be Slaanesh, but some Tzeentch will be added in as well 🙂 The Big Dudes For HQ I would take two Keepers of Secrets. Now I know the Keeper isn’t the best monster, but I like it, though it does add an expensive tax if you wish to take Slaanesh Princes as heavy support and then you need to pump in points into the KoS to make them survivable. It’s a pity as you get much conversion prospects as well! Instead of Keepers I will usetriple Daemon Princes for HQ and all Princes will be out fitted the same; daemonic flight, warp forged armour, daemon of slaanesh & 2 x greater rewards. Little Fellas Troops are a pretty easy choice and that’s 4 x 10 Pink Horrors. I know there’s not a lot of them and not a lot of troops, but hold on there’s more! I would also like to throw in a HoT, but I do not see much point to buff up a unit of 90 when the HoT is costing about that.

Top Chaos Daemon Units

Top Chaos Daemon Units

Want to know the best units in the Chaos Daemons codex? Then take a butchers below. * These units are not ranked in any particular order 1. Bloodthirster The Bloodthirster is the ultimate bad ass and taker of names. The big red dude rocks with a typical monstrous creature profile and brings a mighty WS10, BS10, W5, I9 and A6 – this dude is seriously laying down the hurt. The Bloodthirster comes with a 3+ armour save, lash of khorne (S6 AP2 pistol) and axe of khorne (wound of 6+ is instagib). As the ‘Thirster is a daemon of khorne it gets furious charge, S7 smashy. Bloodthirster has options of daemonic rewards; best taking a couple of greater rewards as they give survivable buffs. If you take the normal greater reward, which is the blade of blood, then the Bloodthirster gets the rampage special rule (+D3 attacks if out numbered in close combat) and would get
