Army Lists: Chaos Daemons ‘Kinky Fire Dogs’ – 2,000 points

Army Lists: Chaos Daemons ‘Kinky Fire Dogs’ – 2,000 points

Not written an army list for a bit (though have been working on Eldar lists), thought I would have a crack at Chaos Daemons as a few dudes as my local club have started Chaos Daemons and they have spurred me on. Chaos Daemons ‘Kinky Fire Dogs’ – 2,000 points HQ Keeper of Secrets – mastery level 3 & 2 x greater rewards Keeper of Secrets – mastery level 3 & 2 x greater rewards Troops 10 x Pink Horrors 10 x Pink Horrors 10 x Pink Horrors 10 x Pink Horrors Fast Attack 11 x Flesh Hounds 11 x Flesh Hounds Heavy Support Daemon Prince – daemon of slaanesh, warp forged armour, daemonic flight & 2 x greater rewards Daemon Prince – daemon of slaanesh, warp forged armour, daemonic flight & 2 x greater rewards Daemon Prince – daemon of slaanesh, warp forged armour, daemonic flight & 2 x greater rewards Total: 1,997 Sorry about the silly ass list name, couldn’t think of anything good. Yeah, I know, I suck at finding cool names. I do not like horde armies and prefer fast moving shooty armies which are either elite i.e Ravenwing, mech such as Dark Eldar or big ass monsters. Tyranids can knock out many o big monster, but I am not interested in them and found a liking for Chaos Daemons a year ago. Now I know KoS (Keeper of Secrets) aren’t awesome, but with some good luck (luck isn’t a valid tactic, but it is what Chaos Daemons codex goes on as everything is random) the Keepers should get invisibility power (gives stealth and shrouding) on the telepathy psychic power table. Hopefully some good greater rewards will do too such as 4+ feel no pain and 3+ armour save, the extra wound gift will be handy too. The Horrors are there just to camp on objectives and lay down some covering fire.

New Tau Codex Unit Reviews – Hammerhead Gunship (incl. Longstrike)

New Tau Codex Unit Reviews – Hammerhead Gunship (incl. Longstrike)

As I mentioned in the Broadside post. The Hammerhead Gunship is now the only place you can find the iconic S10 AP1 railgun that defined the Tau army for the last couple of editions. The Heavy Support section of the Tau FOC is pretty hotly contested but most people are likely to take a couple of Broadside teams supported by a Hammerhead or Sky Ray. The Sniper Teams simply won’t get a look in I’m afraid. They’re not awful but the other choices are brilliant so they’ll lose out. The Hammerhead Gunship has come down in price quite dramatically, well the railgun variant has at least. The armour profile of 13/12/10 has been retained, as has BS4. Interestingly submunition rounds are now a 5pt upgrade for your railgun but I think they should be always taken as it gives the hammerhead some flexibility. The gun drones can now be swapped for a twin-linked burst cannon (rather than the two burst cannons previously, which doesn't make much difference) or a twin-linked SMS. Both upgrades are free and both put out 4 S5 shots.

6th Edition Concepts – Tanks

6th Edition Concepts – Tanks

Let’s clear something up straight away. In this case when I say “tank” I don’t mean your rhinos, hammerheads, predators etc. Instead I’m talking about a video-gaming concept from MMORPGs. For those of you not familiar with this concept the idea is that someone builds their character so that it’s primary function is to soak up damage from enemies to protect other units. Though they might not have much offensive ability they can free up points so that other units can spend them on offensive capability. So how does this apply to 40K? Well before 6th edition it didn’t. However, the 6th edition rules have changed wound allocation in such a way as this is now possible. Couple in the “Look Out Sir” rules and there’s your tank. The units that will benefit most from this are those static gun-line portions of your army

Lunchbox, an update.

Lunchbox, an update.

Lunchbox, officially called I-51, is attached to the Wolf Pack as their personal transport. You might recall this vehicle from various battle-reports, or from this post , it is not new to the motorpool by a long-shot. After the last game , where it was destroyed first turn (forcing the plasma-toting vets to walk), I decided it needed an update. It is one of the few tanks without track-guards, and I wasn’t happy with the look, it needed to look more ‘veteran’. Once all the bits were on, and painted, the tank got hit with the weathering stick. There was also much washing, and a little repainting. I am happy with the end result! Here it is in the in-between stage, just before painting began. Plasicard bits, real bitz, and some moving bitz around.

Fast Transport Vehicles

Fast Transport Vehicles

Question: Fast Vehicles So, the recently released 40k FAQ has created a few minor debates. One of these revolves around whether they’d really thought out the changes to Stealth. Will we see this huge upgrade taken away when they come to their senses or can commissars really shout that loud? Another issue is the clarification about what happens when a fast transport vehicle is destroyed after moving flat out

Homemade CoD Stratagems – Tank Traps

Homemade CoD Stratagems – Tank Traps

This is my first “Show and Tell” here on LO, I’d love to hear feedback. Now that my friends and I have played a few games with the new CoD rules, I figured it was time for some new scenery to represent the various stratagems. Personally, I think GW’s premade set looks like garbage, and […]
