Finally got my Dark Apostle in the post the other day and started work on him last deciding to do a couple of minor modifications to him, precipitated by another wonderful failcast example.
Basing and final work on first squad of my Word Bearers army was completed last night.
I've been struggling to get myself started on the large number of painting projects that I have backed up at the moment.
Finished (except for basing) last 10 of my first 15 Chaos Space Marines as part of the “Tale of X Gamers: The Horus Heresy Edition” project.
Nearly got my unit of 5 MkIII armoured Word Bearers completed – also assembled and undercoated my unit of 5 MkIV models as well.
Started the process of painting my Word Bearers the other night giving them a base coat then alternating layers of Mechrite Red, Red Wash, Scab Red, Blood Red (drybrushed). Gave one of the MkIII guys the full treatment highlights etc – but while he looks good from a distance close up its not that great; so much so that Im not going to post the pictures (using a new camera with 5x the resolution of my old one didnt help much either).
Finished this guy last night – except for the basing which Ill do tonight – and Im really happy with the way it turned out.
Spent last few days reading everything I could find on the Word Bearers my intended first step into 40k.
Pete Dunn over at Fields of Blood has stated his intention (along with Charlie St Clair) to build himself a Heresy Era 40k army (see original post here) I've always wanted to build and paint up a Space Marine army as the fluff for 40k is simply fantastic.
