I found an entry in the army book with the swordsmen. So the unit champion is called Duellist, but he doesn't have handguns.
Any one know what purpose they had in previous rules, if any?

Duellists is just a collectors' set, a characterful addition to a unit or a character. Similarity to champion's name is coincidental.

Sorry for the thread res but actually that's incorrect. I used to field a couple of units of duellists back in the day, they were from a WD Dogs of War list I beleive, basically skirmishing swordsmen (stats wise) with pistols instead of swords.

    They were awesome.

Yeah, they're classic models. They're left over from the days of 'Dogs of War' as an army. Now they're just cool to look at, or to slip into your units as champions or characters. The rules for Witch Hunters would work well for them, however. Trouble is, why take Witch Hunters?
