Well, the titlle says it all really Anyone know of any good alternatives to the statetrooper minis? I'm thinking of starting an empire army for an escalation League, but frankly, the I don't like the look of the core troopers

    Forge World, Blades?
They are not complete though, you need the regular state troops box to use the arms.

Perry-Miniatures has a line of 28mm War of the Roses figures who stack up quite well next to Warhammer minis (considering the Perry bros. used to sculpt a lot of the Fantasy stuff). They're a bit smaller, more like the older WHFB minis, but there's enough in the range to make a nearly full-sized army.

Really though, just about any 'War of the Roses' or similar English Renaissance-era footsoldiers will work. For instance:
    Front Rank miniatures

The Perry stuff is definitely worth a mention though, as it's also a lot less expensive than the GW stuff is just as (if not more) detailed than the usual offerings. I like my Empire armies to have a bit more gritty realism to them than the typical Fantasy offerings, I think that the GW stuff looks a little cartoonish because they're trying to stylize an already strange and almost comical style.
