    Minis: where to get?

My local hobby shop has a VERY active BFG community: to the point that if you don't have a BFG fleet to go with your army you are kind of a second class citizen there.

Now I was into BFG and 40K back in the day, but stuff happened and most of my miniatures were destroyed, especially my BFG minis.

Now I am getting back into the game, and I would like to collect again, but I have been searching online and no luck finding the BFG ships for sale except E-bay for ridiculous prices and some highly questionable "BFG Compatible" stuff created via 3-D printing...

I am looking to collect, initially: 1 Battle Barge, 5 Strike Cruisers, and 3 squadrons of 5 assorted escorts, preferably at least 1 of each of the "SM" escort types.

I am hoping someone can point me to wherever the official outlet for the miniatures now is located.

    Thanks in advance:
    ~ Grand Admiral Nemo.

To be honest mate you are pretty much limited to either

    Resin recasts from China [LINK]
They're 'ok'. Not ever going to be as good as the originals but they're workable. If you check my own BFG thread my 'super battleship' is made from the China Recast.

    Shapeways 3d Printing [LINK]
No idea on quality but it's EXPENSIVE. Pretty much ebay prices.

    Battlefleet Helios [LINK]
No idea on the quality. Expensive as well. £18 for ONE cruiser.

Or ebay. Sometimes you can get a good deal.

I have a big BFG Imperial fleet but I have started casting my own ships up to do new fleets etc. I do have a Marine fleet (only 1500pts) and a growing chaos fleet. Where are you from anyway?

Ohio, USA: wont go into more specifics than that.

Found the stuff on Shapeways and that was the 3-D printing stuff I was talking about.

Sad that the official stuff isn't available.

That's fine. Just wanted to know if you were in the UK. I could have shown you how to cast some bits up. Or sent you some!

It is a bit bum that the original stuff isn't available. Same as all the specialist range.

I guess I will have to start looking into those options you mentioned...

    : Sigh :

Why does it never go smooth?

For the same reason that I did not weight order all of the Inquisitor, BFG and Nercomunda range when they get rid of Weight order.

You could perchase just one original model and then cast it up and create your fleet from just a few originals. It's what I've done with my Chaos Fleet. I have a tutorial on how to cast your own models up here as well.
